Local markets are held in Nice and Villefranche. The most well known is held in the ‘Cours Saleya’ in Nice, adjacent to the old town, and offers an array of olives, flowers and fresh produce. There is also an antiques market held here on a Monday.
Sporting activities in the area are abundant– there is sailing, diving, fishing, water sports, jogging and rollerblading along the Promenade des Anglais, and of course the beaches. You are also in very close proximity to the mountains and hills of the Alpes Maritimes region here, which makes walking and cycling very popular.
Beaches can be found just 50 metres away at the ‘Plage Nautique’ and right along the seafront of Nice as far as the airport. The ski stations of Valberg, Isola 2000 and Auron are approximately 1 hour’s drive away if you fancy a couple of days winter sports!
Getting around is very easy from here. You have the bus and train services, which have a great network along the coast and further inland. A car is really not necessary here.
