About the local area

Local shops can be found 2km away and a supermarket 5km. The house is surrounded by several small villages such as Falicon, Aspremont & Castagniers and the towns of Monaco 20km east and Cannes 40km west.  The nearest restaurant is 1km away and many more can be found in the city and old town of Nice. There’s also a great choice of shopping in Nice in the department stores and designer & gift shops.

Local markets are held in Nice, two of them which sell fresh fruit, vegetables and flowers. The closest is the ‘Marché de la Liberation’, but the most well-known is in the ‘Cours Saleya’ adjacent to the old town, where there’s also a popular antiques market on a Monday.

Sporting activities in the area are abundant– there’s horse riding, sailing, diving, fishing, water sports, jogging and rollerblading along the Promenade des Anglais plus of course there's the beaches! On leaving the house, you’ll directly find several popular hiking-routes and cycling circuits.

Beaches can be found 11km away at the ‘Plage de la Baie des Anges’ and also right along the sea front as far as Nice airport. From here you can enjoy the sunshine glittering on the azure blue waters of the Med and watch the many boats crossing the bay. For out-of-season swimming, there's also a covered swimming pool just 4km away in the village of Falicon.

The ski stations of Greoliere, Valberg, Isola 2000 and Auron are between 1 and 2 hour’s drive away if you fancy a couple of days winter sports!

Getting around is easy from here – there’s a bus stop almost directly outside the house where you’ll find 3 lines taking you down to Nice. From here, there’s then the tram stop ‘Las Planas’ to take you into the town centre. A car however would be preferable here to enable food provisioning, sightseeing etc.

Sightseeing is endless; you have the historical old town of Nice; the restaurants and yachts in the port of Nice; a stroll along the Promenade des Anglais; the views from the Chateau of Nice; the Museums of Art in Nice; the animals & plants at Parc Phoenix; the charming Mediterranean towns of Villefranche-sur-Mer and Beaulieu-sur-Mer; the zoo and coastal walk around Cap-Ferrat; the perched village at Eze; the casinos and port of Monaco; and the Italian border town of Menton. It’s also possible to cross over the border to experience the culture and flavour of Italy!

Other entertainment includes shopping, the casinos & nightlife of Nice, The Jazz Festival through August, the Nice Carnival in Feb, the Monaco Grand Prix in May, boat trips, cinemas, wine tasting, helicopter rides, or just good old relaxing by the pool!

Friendly owners, pizza oven and bbq were great, rustic charm was nice and the house was very clean - Mr H. from Roxburghshire, Oct 23.

Paul was on the ball all the time, so great service. When we had all the info and decided, it only took minutes to have it done and confirmed. Its location and the calmness were the best features, even though on the edge of Nice it was super restful. Oh and the pool. Warm, welcoming, relaxing, fun and I could swim and cook in a good kitchen every day. We are more than happy with the service and with the 'flower house'. please ship it back to the UK. It was the most restful sleep in too many years - Mr S. from Inverness-Shire, Sept 23.

...it was wonderful. The house and surroundings are beautiful, the swimming pool and outdoor kitchen were the best features, also very nice host and wonderful views - Mrs K. from The Netherlands, Aug 23.

(Not available for rental until 2023 due to longer stay)

Translation: A fantastic place, The house, furnished in French style, leaves nothing to be desired. The Mediterranean framework is made up of olive trees that cover the entire property and provide shade. The pool was perfect for romping our kids and for us to swim and relax. We were warmly welcomed by the owners, who gave us many valuable tips for Nice and the surrounding area. We will definitely come back - Mr B. from Germany, July 19.

The best feature was the pool site. More illumination needed in the garden in nighttime. it was Close to perfection - Mr G. from Germany, Aug 18

We thoroughly enjoyed our third stay at Maison Fleurie - just too short - we love the peace and quiet, the view, the space and the pool and the family is as delightful as ever. They also know us, so could leave the bleeper in the mailbox to unshut the front gates to the property when we arrived. It works well for both parties. If there are new clients, maybe a welcome pack would be a good idea? We do a basic shop in Forcalquier before we arrive so that we can have a light supper and breakfast on arrival. Then off the next day to either Carrefour or Leclerc for major food shop - so much easier with the car. It is really too dangerous to walk down the road to the boulangerie, etc. as there is no pavement on parts of the road. We don`t use the second bedroom and bathroom, but the main bathroom still has the strange smell - maybe because it is situated in the original part of the cottage and probably with no window unshut for some time? We prefer to use the shower room. Thank you also for organising the bottle of champagne on arrival - very much appreciated. Hope you have a good summer - Mrs P. from London, June 2018 (third visit).

Hi Paul, we had a great time at Maison Fleurie......the owners had made the second bedroom look much more attractive and had redecorated the main bathroom. We also went out to dinner with them one evening, with some other members of their family which was great fun.......Another family member owned the restaurant. All things being equal, we will probably return next year - Mrs P. from London, June 2017 (second visit).

The property fits exactly our needs, for us it is excellent. The best feature of the accommodation was the kind Owners and the Swimming pool - Mr C. from Zurich, August 2017 (3rd visit)

It was just as the pictures had shown (How satisfied were you with the property ?) Very Satisfied - Mr L. from Washington, May 2017

The owners and their children are absolutely charming and we loved our stay at Maison Fleurie. As a couple, we very much enjoyed the accommodation, but might have been slightly disappointed if we needed to use the second bedroom which we felt lacked character and was not the same standard as the rest of the property. Also, there was a strange odour in the main bathroom, but maybe because it had not been used or aired for some time. It would also be useful if the owners provided instructions for the cooker, TV, etc. It was OK for us, as we have stayed in differing accommodation in France and "know the ropes". Also an up-to-date bus timetable and information on local food shops, etc. These are meant as positive comments to avoid problems with other future clients. No mention was made of the Supplementary services as outlined on the accommodation details. We also had initial problems with the internet connection, but the owners attended to this. We also moved the router into the living area from the hall cupboard with also improved the connection. We would like to return in the future, dependent on political and economic conditions at the time, and the price! (How satisfied were you with the property ?) Very Satisfied - Mrs P. from London, June 2016.

....I can just say Exceptional (How satisfied were you with the property ?) Very Satisfied - Mr C. from Zurich, August 2015

It`s our fourth time there, and we will return (How satisfied were you with the property ?) Very Satisfied. Danielle does take care of the immediate issues quickly - Mr D. from Chicago (4th visit), Jan 14.

Our demands are small, but location, something web sites really can`t relay, is critical, and Maison Fleuri is perfectly located for us. Joie de Vivre put us in touch with great hosts, who took over from there. (How satisfied were you with the property ?) Very Satisfied - Mr D. from Chicago (third visit), Jan 13.

Lovely. La Mas Fleurie has been fully renovated in a typical rural French style. Lime washed walls, elegant and understated furniture, space and comfort. We wanted for nothing and could not be happier..............I wanted to just write and say we had the best time staying as La Mas Fleurie and the owners were wonderful hosts. I`m also really happy with the painless, personal and less bureaucratic service we received from Joie de Vivre. Indeed, we loved it so much that we want to reserve the same two weeks there for next year........Dr J. from Bristol. Aug 12.

Paul, we had a wonderful stay, thanks to the beautiful house, fully equipped, nicely furnished and a wonderful view. Better than expected, more space around the house. But, above all, the owners are very friendly and we spend nice evenings with them. A great stay. But definitively not the last one there ! Thanks for everything. Beautiful house (How satisfied were you with the property ?) Very Satisfied - Mr G. from Dublin, Aug 12.

Since we returned once and expect to return again, you can say we love it. Anything needing improvement, Joie de Vivre happily accommodated us (How satisfied were you with the property ?) Very Satisfied. P.S. we are planning to return, again in January but maybe sooner, to help harvest the olives - Mr D. from Chicago (2nd visit), June 12.

The property was lovely, clean, well appointed for a holiday rental. (How satisfied were you with the property ?) Very Satisfied - Mr D. from Chicago, Feb 12.
