Gite St Jean is situated on the edge of a small hamlet where the pace of life is ideal for those who want to relax and soak up the ambience of Western Provence, as well as the sunshine.

The two double, or twin, bedroom Gite, each with its own en-suite, will ensure privacy and comfort.

Your host, who lives next door, has a wealth of knowledge about the region that he will share with you and because he is a Chef he will even prepare some meals too!

This is a perfect base for those who like to venture out and discover the region, whatever time of the year, there is always something of interest going on.                    

Property Features

Living Room and Kitchen: This spacious and open plan area is ideal for four people. The kitchen, located at one end, is large and fully equipped with fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, oven and hob.  There is a pretty wrought iron table and 4 chairs for indoor eating.  In the seating area there are two comfy chairs and a large sofa, where you can relax and enjoy the International TV and DVD player.

Bedrooms: There are two identical bedrooms which can be made up as doubles or singles. They each have lots of space in the wardrobe and have bedside tables. The bedroom doors both lead out on to the covered terrace overlooking the pool. There is no access to the second bedroom from inside the house, only via the terrace.

Bathroom: Each of the bedrooms has its own large and modern en-suite, with a shower, hand basin and toilet.

Parking: There is private and secure parking on the property.

Swimming Pool. The private pool which measures 10 x 5 m is surrounded by plants and mature shrubs and has outstanding views towards the village across the owner’s vineyard. There are plenty of spots to relax in and out of the sunshine.

Outside: The terrace, with its table and chairs is perfect for alfresco dining. Around the pool area there is table tennis, a mini-football/snooker/ice hockey table, a barbeque and a large grassed area. For children there's some play equipment.

Internet: Wifi connection is available for your device at the lovely, shaded and sheltered terrace, an area shared with the owners.

Baby facilities: There is a cot,high chair, pram and walker available.

Bed and bathroom linens: These are provided, along with pool towels, included in the rental cost.

Winter heating: There is a small charge for heating during the cooler months of the year.

Gas, electric and water: Is included in the rental cost.

End-of-stay cleaning: Is included in the rental cost.

Damage deposit: The owner requests a damage deposit of 150 Euros payable on arrival. This will be refunded to you, less the replacement cost of any breakages.

Taxe de Sejour: In France, it is necessary to pay a “Taxe de Séjour”. It is approx. 1 euros per day per guest 12 years or older.

Change over day: is normally Saturday, but please enquire.

Weekend Break: Take advantage of the catered weekend break, for 165 euros per person (min 4 people), where you can enjoy evening meals on Friday and Saturday and breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings. These are outside of the peak season.

Speciality of the Host: The owner, who lives next door, loves to cook and will delight you with his great BBQs and Pizza’s, and where he will share his wealth of knowledge about the region with you.

Pets: are permitted here, please ask when you book.

About the local area

St Jean de Crieulon is a small peaceful hamlet not far from the busy and historical towns of Nimes, Arles and Avignon. .

For those who enjoy a more active holiday why not hire a bike and take to the quiet roads where you can take in all the magnificent views and scents of the land. Horse riding tours are also available on your doorstep. Within 1½ hours, from December to March, you can be 1500 metres high and amongst the snow!  There are two ski lifts.

Sightseeing You are just minutes away from Anduze and the gateway to the Parc Nationale des Cévennes where you can walk, or visit the famous Bambouseraie (Bamboo Garden).

If you would like to dabble in a little painting, a tutor can be arranged or perhaps a tour of the vineyards for some wine tasting is more to your palate!

The weekly morning Market in Gange on Friday is a large affair where you can buy lots of fresh, locally grown produce, flowers, chesses and wines. There are also daily markets in Anduze on Thursday mornings and Tuesday evenings and Quissac on Wednesday mornings.

There are Supermarkets in Quissac which is 7kms and Anduze which is 12 kms away. Your fresh bread is delivered to you daily (except Wednesdays) by request.

The first week we had very hot temperatures up to 37° so we were glad having a swimming pool.
Chantal and Steve have been very friendly and Steve tried to improve my bad spoken english.

Excellent. Steve and Chantal were perfect, charming hosts. The accommodation was well equipped and the pool and views were lovely. Location in pretty location and very peaceful but close enough to larger villages for restaurants and amenities when needed.
Wifi coverage extended to the rental gite. This was a minor inconvenience though and actually quite welcome to have downtime from emails and regular contact with the outside world. Wifi was available in the shared outside kitchen area if we needed it.

Fantastic location in peaceful village, surrounded by several vineyards. The pool is excellent and all equipment is in good condition, perfect for a quiet getaway. A lovely welcome from Chantal and Steve with a meal waiting for us on arrival was very kind. As the weather was so hot we spent a lot of time at the pool. Venturing out to the pretty towns of Soave, Anduze and St Jean du Gard and surrounding areas which are within an easy drive. We had a perfect relaxing week.

It was a lovely gite, clean, comfortable with a beautiful pool and perfect setting with gorgeous views. The owners of the gite were friendly and provided excellent information about the local area, but we also had our privacy. The welcome meal and food in the fridge was a lovely idea and much appreciated and the pizza night was a must.
