About the local area
Local shops, butchers, pharmacy and supermarket can be found not far away on foot and also down in the Port area, where you’ll find many restaurants and cafes. There's also a lot more in the old town of Nice and a great choice of shopping in the department stores, designer and gift shops.
Local markets are held in Nice and Villefranche. The most well-known is in the ‘Cours Saleya’ in Nice, adjacent to the old town which offers an array of olives, flowers and fresh produce. There is also an antiques market held here on a Monday.
Sporting activities in the area are abundant– there is sailing, diving, fishing, water sports, jogging and rollerblading along the Promenade des Anglais, and of course the beaches. You are also in very close proximity to the mountains and hills of the Alpes Maritimes region here, which makes walking and cycling very popular.
Beaches can be found at the little Plage Nautique, Promenade des Anglais and Villefranche-sur-Mer.
The ski stations of Valberg, Isola 2000 and Auron are less than 2 hour’s drive away if you fancy a couple of days winter sports!
Getting around is very easy from here. You have the bus and train services, which have a great network along the coast and further inland - the nearest bus stop is directly outside for buses to Nice or the beautiful town of Villefranche. A car is really not necessary here.
Sightseeing is endless; you have the historical old town of Nice; the restaurants and yachts in the port of Nice; a stroll along the Promenade des Anglais; the views from the Chateau of Nice; the Museums of Art in Nice; the animals & plants at Parc Phoenix; the charming Mediterranean towns of Villefranche-sur-Mer and Beaulieu-sur-Mer; the coastal walk around Cap-Ferrat; the perched village at Eze; the casinos and port of Monaco; and the Italian border town of Menton. It is also possible to cross over the border to experience the flavour of Italy!
Other entertainment includes shopping, the casinos & nightlife of Nice, boat trips, cinemas, wine tasting, helicopter rides, or just good old relaxing on the beach!
