A leisurely 10 minute walk from the villa will bring you into the village where you’ll find plenty of small shops, including several boulangeries, newsagents, cafes and restaurants. A local market is held every Friday morning. Larger supermarkets and shops can be found at the nearby town of Apt.
Bonnieux is an ideal base from which to discover this part of Provence. The winding roads of the Luberon, with spectacular views, are great to explore and you'll find loads of picturesque villages on the doorstep and no doubt you'll want to stop and take some refreshments!
There's loads to do and see in the area; St Remy-de-Provence, famous for its Roman architecture, Les Baux with its ruined castle and unique rock formations, L'Isle sur la Sorgue, famous as an antique centre and market. Also within easy reach are Pont du Gard, Avignon with the Palace of the Popes, Marseille with its famous waterfront, the Amphitheatre at Nimes and the cultured avenues of Aix-en-Provence.
If activity is your thing, this area is perfect for climbing, cycling (available in the village), mountain biking, trekking, golf, tennis (courts in the village) and swimming.
There is a huge choice of local markets selling fresh breads, vegetables, cheese and herbs, all within a short drive. You could visit the bustling Farmers market in Coustellet or Cavaillon market, famous for melons!
