About the local area
Vence is an artist’s town and along with its equally well-known neighbouring town of Saint Paul de Vence, is situated amidst the beautiful hilly scenery west of Nice.
It has drawn artists both well known and amateur, and a special attraction is Matisse’s Chapel, a short walking distance from the old town. Another is the Chagall painting in the Cathedral.
There is a wide range of shops, restaurants and markets in the historical old part of the town, and the apartment is situated adjacent.
The Mediterranean beaches of Nice, Antibes and Cannes are close by.
Tennis, golf and other sports facilities are nearby, as well as a local outdoor swimming pool from May - Sept.
With its close proximity to the hilly countryside, this makes the apartment an ideal base for those who enjoy the outdoors, walking and cycling.
Within easy reach of Nice, its international airport and all that the Cote d’Azur has to offer.

We were delighted with our stay. The apartment was lovely, bright and well furnished with a nice view from the balcony. The garden was magical, a lush oasis in the heat of summer, with many tables and chairs providing private spaces to eat or just enjoy the surroundings. It is a short walk to the center of Vence to buy fresh bread and produce and where you will find many good restaurants. The supermarket is also only a short walk. The owner Milan was a pleasure to deal with and, overall, we highly recommend this property! - Mrs B. from Sweden, Aug 2019.
Great. We love the place and the people. Keep up the good work.  (How satisfied were you with the property ?) Very Satisfied - Mr B. from New York, October 2016 (9th visit!)
Très bien agencé, bien équipé, et idéalement bien disposé. Très bonne opinion (How satisfied were you with the property ?) Very Satisfied - Mme C. from France, August 2014.
Comfortable accommodation in a great location. Well equipped, although some plumbing "ideosyncrasies" persist (How satisfied were you with the property ?) Very Satisfied - Mr S. from Australia, June 2014 (2nd visit).
We had a spacious, comfortable apartment (We were given a larger apartment than the one we had booked) and were looked after very well, by Milan and his partner. (How satisfied were you with the property ?) Satisfied - Mrs A. from Norfolk, Jan 14.
The accommodation was excellent, as described and met expectations. The owners were friendly and helpful. Our experience was a positive one and we would definitely book with you again, and recommend Joie de Vivre to our friends. (How satisfied were you with the property ?) Very Satisfied - Mrs M. from Berkshire, Sept 12.

If we had a home of our own in France, this would be it. Very comfortable, clean, and beautiful. We simply could not have asked or imagine that our holiday could be improved upon, other than staying longer. (How satisfied were you with the property ?) Very Satisfied - Mr & Mrs B. from New York, Oct 10 (4th visit).
Wonderful accommodation with a great blend of location, help and privacy! Thoroughly appreciated all the help making reservation and the help once there! (How satisfied were you with the property ?) Very Satisfied - Mrs M. from Ontario, Aug 11.
We could not have asked for more. Perfect location. Clean. The hosts are very helpful. (How satisfied were you with the property ?) Very Satisfied - Mr & Mrs B. from New York, Oct 10 (3rd visit)
Charming Provencal property that was a delight to return to. Equipped to a very high standard and in a lovely location. The only problem for us was the terrace did not get the sun (covered with vine leaves in the summer months, but more sunny in winter) - that left us with nowhere satisfactory to sit out so we had to do more trips out than intended - Mrs C. from Cheshire, Sept 10.
In a word, perfect. Our accommodations were extremely clean, and the surroundings were so pleasant. Our hosts were extremely helpful. We truly felt as if it was our home away from home. We are already planning our trip for next year.  One week is not nearly enough so we would like to extend our stay to at least 9 nights next time. Thank you again for all of your work in our behalf, (How satisfied were you with the property ?) Very Satisfied - Mr & Mrs B. from New York, Nov 09 (return visit).
Great accomodation, very friendly, helpfull hosts (How satisfied were you with the property?) Very Satisfied - Mr D. from Australia, Jan 09.
Our stay at The Old Savonnerie  truly made our holiday one of the best we`ve ever had - and we have been to France many times.  Surpassed our expectations. Excellent location. Charming and clean. The owners were the most gracious hosts and extremely helpful.  We cannot wait to return.  Our only regret was that we did not plan to stay longer. Thank you for all of your kind assistance, and we will be in touch when planning our future holiday - Mr & Mrs B. from New York, Nov 08.
The apartment was very much as we were hoping for. It`s the perfect place to stay if Vence is your destination. (How satisfied were you with the property ?) Satisfied. We found you very helpful in all aspects. Thank you - Mrs C. from France, Oct 08.
Lovely quiet accommodation. Excellent position right outside the city wall of Vence. One exceptional point was how well equipped the apartment was with crockery/cooking equipment of the highest standard. Cleaning was to a high standard - wouldn`t hesitate to recommend to friends - Mrs Y. from Cumbria, Aug 07.
The apartment was clean, quiet and well situated with excellent views over the mountains, and a short drive to the coast. The veranda and immediate surroundings were very pleasant and the overall standard was high. However, the car park was tight and slightly overcrowded and unfortunatley there was no pool, otherwise it was very nice - Mr T from Nottingham, July 07.
