Imagine relaxing in the glorious warmth of the Provencal sunshine, surrounded by 10 acres of garden, meadows and woods, tucked away far from crowds and city life. This two bed-roomed stone cottage is just right for a family or adults who want peace and tranquillity but easy access to all the activities and ‘things to explore’ nearby.
The grounds consist of the owner’s home, the stone cottage and 3 studios which have shared use of the swimming pool. You can even join the Yoga classes which take place at the owner’s house. Your cottage is secluded within its own 2 acres yet only a short stroll will bring you to the pool. There is heaps of space for children to play.
The owner has painstakingly restored the building to embrace original features, using soft attractive colours which reflect the Provencal countryside. The French doors and windows allow the light to stream in, keeping the interiors light and bright. During the day you may want to sunbathe or read (outdoor furniture is provided). At night you’ll want to eat out on the patio, enjoying the barbecue provided – in this part of the world the night sky is fantastic.
Property Features
Living room: The rectangular layout is practical and comfy with warm muted colours, beamed ceilings and terracotta floor tiles. The open-plan room is relaxed and informal with sofa, chairs and coffee table at one end of the room and the dining area at the other. Both have French doors onto the garden and if your stay is in the winter months, there is a wood-burning stove.
Kitchen: A fully functional kitchen including oven, fridge freezer and dishwasher is in a corner of the open-plan living area.
Bedrooms: The sizeable master bedroom has a king-size bed and attractive antique furniture. The second bedroom is twin-bedded which can be bolted into a double and there is further room for a small child’s bed if needed.
Bathroom: There are two bathrooms with one on the ground floor which also contains the washing machine. The upstairs bathroom includes a bath with shower attachment, sink and toilet.
Outside: Completely private, the covered terrace with table and chairs is idyllic for meals under the stars or using the barbecue. While pots with Mediterranean plants decorate the exterior of the house, stretching beyond is 10 acres of garden and meadows which border onto the surrounding woods-great breathing space for children to play in.

About the local area
Villecroix is 1.5 km away and here you will find cafes, bakeries and restaurants. It has an attractive backdrop of mountains and forest and many sights to see such as the early medieval house of the Templar Knights.
Nearby is Salernes and, apart from its many picturesque streets and 11th century church, the town is famous for its production of terracotta tiles which are exported worldwide. ‘Artists’ haunt Tourtour is not to be missed, known “as the village in the sky ofProvence” due to the plateau it sits on, it is officially classified as one of the loveliest villages in France. The Gorges du Verdon is one of the greatest tourist attractions in Provence, often called the Grand Canyon of Europe due to its dramatic beauty. The region boasts 300km of shoreline with the Iles d’Hyere, Saint Tropez and Bandol being just a few of the well-known names worth a visit. Culture and history as well as wonderful shops can be found in Aix en Provence whose association with the artists Cezanne and Picasso is world-famous.
Walking, biking, horse riding, tennis, wine tasting can be enjoyed locally. The owner can arrange lessons in French cooking, yoga and meditation on the premises. Aromatherapy and Swedish massage is also offered by experienced therapists. The close proximity of the Gorge du Verdun and its lakes means you have climbing, white-water sports, canyoning and paragliding within a forty minute drive.
Most towns and villages in Provence have a local market and here in the Var you will be able to find delicious honey as this region is the number one producer in France with 20,000 hives. Products made of olive wood, local produce such as cheeses and hams are recommended and don’t forget that if you come in the winter months you must experience the Aups truffle market.
