Villa Turquoise
General Description
- This lovely spacious sunny villa is located in a residential area towards to the edge of the little town of Sigean, just 5 kms from the sea. It has a large well-maintained private garden, terrace and delightful swimming pool.
- Sigean is an attractive town with a variety of shops, cafe-bars and restaurants and a weekly market. It has lots of history e.g. Hannibal is said to have passed through there on his way to Italy in the 3rd century B.C.. Just 2 kms from the town is a coastal lagoon teeming with birdlife such as pink flamingos.
- The villa is about 165 sq.m. in size and comprises a recently upgraded lounge and dining room (pictured), a kitchen, 4 bedrooms (3 with double beds and 1 with twin beds), one bathroom, two shower rooms and two separate WC's. Although there are 4 bedrooms, the owner prefers to let to a maximum of 6 people (+ a baby) only.
- Outside is a terrace leading out into the lovely private well-maintained garden towards the swimming pool.
- An unusual and rather lovely feature of the garden in an ancient olive oil mill. For childen there are swings and ping pong and for adults, an area for playing boules. A number of adults and children's bicycles are provided for your use.
The Local Area
- Sigean, the local town, has a small supermarket, a boulangerie, shops, cafe-bars, restaurants and a bi-weekly market so you don't have to go far for your day-to-day needs. Narbonne, 15 kms away, is much larger and is a lovely town to visit with its bustling squares and narrow streets.
- Sporting Activities: Available locally are tennis, fishing, horse-riding, swimming, all types of watersports, mountain biking and cycling. Many od the local beaches are Blue Flag beaches, clean and generally supervised by life guards in July and August.
- Sightseeing: There's lots to do around Sigean without necessarily having to go too far e.g. children will love the African Nature Reserve, just outside the town, with over 3000 different species of animals. A day trip there involves a drive through in the morning, lunch, and then seeing the small animals on foot in the afternoon. Nature lovers will enjoy exploring the Etang de Bages lagoon to watch the flamingos and other birds which visit this large stretch of water. Other good days out: Narbonne,the Canal du Midi, Carcassonne, the Fortresse de Salses, the lovely city of Perpigan and the beautiful Cote Vermeille with its lovely town of Collioure. A day trip to Spain is easily possible as the border is only 30 minutes drive away!
- Markets: There's a market in Sigean on a Tuesday and Friday morning, and much larger markets in Narbonne on a Thursday and Sunday. Narbonne has a renowned food market in Les Halles which is open every morning of the year.
- Restaurants: There are a number of small restaurants in Sigean and various pizzerias. Further restaurants including one with a Michelin star can be found in Narbonne.
- Supermarket: There's a supermarket in Sigean and larger ones such as Geant as you enter the town of Narbonne.
Facilities
- Living Room: Recently refurnished and upgraded this light and airy room with french windows leading onto the terrace has a lovely fireplace, a leather sofa and two armchairs, a coffee table and lamps and a TV corner unit with DVD and music system. The TV receives mainly French channels. There's an archway which leads to the dining room.
- Dining Room: Again recently upgraded this pleasant room has a sideboard, and an oval dining table with 6 chairs.
- Kitchen: This is a separate room which has a cooker, microwave, oven, diswasher, fridge/freezer, washing machine, hoover, iron and ironing board.
- Bedrooms: Bedroom 1 has a double bed, bedside tables, a wardrobe and an en-suite bathroom. There are 3 further bedrooms, two with double beds and 1 with twin beds for children. Please note the owner prefers a maximum of 6 people only at this villa.
- Bathrooms: The en-suite to bedroom 1 has a shower, basin and WC. There are 2 further bath/shower rooms and 2 separate WCs.
- Outside: Is a spacious terrace equipped with table and chairs for alfresco dining. There is also a barbecue. The south-facing private garden is attractively planted with trees and shrubs. You'll find both adults and childrens bicycles, equipment for a game of boules, and ping pong. There is safe parking the driveway for 2 cars.
- Swimming Pool: The private pool is 5m x 10m and is secured by an electronic alarm. Sun-loungers are located around the pool.
- Internet: There is a broadband internet connection here for use with your own laptop.
- Telephone: There is no telephone here but mobile phone signals in the region are generally good.
- Baby Facilities: A cot and a high chair are available upon request.
- Winter Heating: Is included in the rental price.
- Gas, Electric and Water: Are all included in the rental price
- End of Stay Cleaning: Is included in the rental price providing that the villa is left neat and tidy as found.
- Bed and Bathroom Linen: Are included in the rental price.
- Taxe de Sejour: Is not included in the rental price and is payable for the duration of your stay. The guide price is Euros 0.70 per person per night and this is payable to the owners on arrival.
- Damage Deposit: The owners request a damage deposit of 800 Euros on arrival and this will be refunded to you at the end of your stay less the replacement cost of any breakages.
- Change Over Day: Is Saturday - except in the Low Season when other days would be considered.
- Long Weekends or Mini Breaks: May be possible in Low/Mid Season subject to availability and a minimum stay of 3 nights.
- Pets: A small dog might be possible subject to receiving prior permission - please enqure.

Smoking: This is not permitted inside the villa.
How To Get There
- By Car: Sigean is about 15 minutes drive south of Narbonne. The nearest autoroute exit is No: 39 on the A9.
- By Air: Perpignan, Beziers, Carcassonne and Montpellier airports are the nearest - all within 45 mins to 65 hour's drive away. Girona (N Spain) and Toulouse are good alternatives.
