General Description

  • If you  are curious to know why so many people want to find their dream home, and vacation  in Provence, coming to stay for a week or two here, will provide you with all the answers.
  • This attractive stone built house is perfectly placed. It is both in walking distance of the medieval village of St Laurent des Arbres, and an adjoining forest, which offers gentle exploration by foot, or for the sportier, adventurous biking. So after a cafe au lait, and croissants with the locals in a café, you can then take a walk in the amazing countryside, without even having to drive a car!
  •  The accommodations consist of six bedrooms and three bathrooms, and if that is not enough, there is a small independent apartment in the grounds (the price does not include the apartment).Due to its excellent south facing position, the rooms are light and airy, adjacent to the sitting room, is a conservatory, idyllic for taking a pre-dinner aperitif. All the interiors have been recently renovated to a high standard by its dedicated owners
  • The village is a ten minute stroll away (about 1km) and can be reached by road or across the fields for a more scenic route.

The Local Area

  • The fortified local village of St Laurent des Arbres could keep you intrigued for days with it’s maze of alleyways and historic monuments, but being in such close proximity to the dramatically beautiful country side, like the Plateau of Lirac, Avignon with its many festivals, and the Mediterranean sea, only an hour away, in fact one problem you are sure to encounter here, is the abundance of choice.
  • Several restaurants are situated in the village, if you do not want to drive, but a short distance will bring you to Avignon which is renowned for its choice of menus to suit all tastes and price levels.
  • Don’t miss driving along one of the nearby wine routes, not only spectacular scenery, but many winery’s offer tasting., The price of wine with the owner will be far better value here than in the shops!
  • Practically all the local villages have farmers markets. Some with particular themes, Islesur le Sorgue, dedicates itself every weekend to Antiques!
  • Whether you have decided to walk, jog, bike or even horse- ride in the neighbouring forest, the views across to the Mont Ventoux will keep you spell-bound it is often utilized by the Tour de France, and serious cyclists. If you fancy going up there yourself by car, you will not be disappointed by the extraordinary view, of the snowcapped Alps, and sunny vineyards. (Have a look at our Cycling in Provence pages here for more information about Mont Ventoux). Golf courses and tennis are nearby too.
  • Do try and visit Avignon with the Palais du Papes, and its famous bridge. The magnificent Pont du Gard, a Roman aqueduct. Other Roman antiquities, are found at Orange (the Roman theatre), Roman town Glanum at Saint Remy de Provence. The arenas in Arles and Nimes. Children love the nature the Camargue has to offer, see the white horses and flamingos.
