General Description

  • Spectacular views are just one of the highlights of this very special Provencal retreat. A seemingly unlimited vista across the Luberon valley, with its hillsides thick with olive trees and vineyards, dotted with hilltop villages.  This is the magical backdrop that can be yours while you sit on the patio and sip your aperitif after a day spent soaking up the sun by your private pool or perhaps visiting one of the numerous local sites.
  • Although the property is  fairly recently built, the owners have imbued it with traditional Provencal style,  making this a comfy and   very private 4 bed roomed   house,  idyllic for families and couples who want   a  relaxing ‘get away from it all’ vacation.
  • The property is set on 1’5 hectares of land on a south facing hill. The distinctive Provencal landscaped garden gently slopes down to a pool for serious swimmers. And if sunbathing is more your cup of tea, then the encircling terrace with its fragrant Mediterranean vegetation is a winner and even here there is no escape from that spellbinding view.

The Local Area

  • The village of Joucas is a charming and authentic perched village, an easily walkable distance of 1.2km. Photographers and painting enthusiasts will find inspirational corners throughout the narrow cobbled streets. A local shop provides most of your basic grocery needs, fresh local produce and bread.
  • Gordes is famous for being one of the most beautiful villages in France and is just   6km distance away. Many of the other villages mentioned in Peter Mayle’s book, A Year in Provence like Menerbes, Bonnieux, Lacoste (home of a fantastic summer arts and opera festival) are also nearby. The ochre cliffs of Roussillon , the lavender fields of Sault, roman ruins at Saint Remy de Provence & the Pont du Gard, the historic Palace of the Popes at Avignon ( which has a wonderful summer arts festival and Aix en Provence, whose associations with the artists Cezanne and Picasso are world-famous, are all a must. Even the Mediterranean Sea is only a reasonable drive away.
  • Walking, biking, horse riding, tennis, golf and wine tasting can be enjoyed in nearby villages Kayaking can be organised at L’Isle sur la Sorgue .
  • Markets can be found in Apt, Cavaillon and Roussillon and a bustling farmers market takes place in Coustellet on Sundays. There is an antiques market at the weekends in Isle sur le Sorgue.
  • The nearest supermarket is in Apt which is about 15km away

Facilities

  • Living room: A generous size, bathed in light from the windows that all face south. A door opens out onto the covered terrace convenient for al fresco dining or watching glorious sunsets. Two leather sofas and two armchairs are positioned around the chimney breast with a coffee table, stereo centre and TV provided (Internaltional Channels available). Mediterranean terracotta tiles are throughout the ground floor
  • An open plan kitchen/dining room and second sitting room lead out onto another patio, perfect for morning café au lait and croissants.  There is an extendable wooden dining table with 10 chairs and a sofa, chair, coffee table and TV.
  • Kitchen:  Equipped to the highest standard with oven, microwave, dishwasher and fridge. There is also a utility room which has a second fridge and freezer plus a washing machine & dryer
  • Bedrooms:  There are four bedrooms. On the ground floor there is the master-bedroom with a queen size bed and an ensuite bathroom plus a further small bedroom. The first floor has a further double-bedded room and a three single-bedded room suitable for children; two of the beds are bunk bed style. All the rooms have fitted wardrobes.
  • Bathroom:  The Master bathroom has a WC, double wash basin, separate shower and bath with shower attachment. The second bathroom has a WC, double wash basin and bath with shower attachment. A cloakroom on the ground floor has a WC and sink.
  • Outside: To the front of the house is a covered patio with a large table and chairs and leads onto the garden. A second corner patio leads off from the dining area to a stone table and benches. The house backs onto pine forest. At one side of the house are parking spaces with an additional covered shelter for vehicles.
  • Swimming pool: The 14m by 7m pool is encircled by a substantial terrace with olive trees and shrubbery. It is completely fenced and security gated.
  • Internet: Dial up access is available if you need to keep in touch on-line
  • Telephone: Yes, it is available as a chargeable extra
  • Winter heating: .If you're visiting during the winter months there will be a charge for winter heating
  • Gas, electric, & water:  These are all included in the rental cost.
  • End-of-stay cleaning. There is an end of stay service to clean the house which costs €180, payable locally
  • Bed & bathroom linen:  This is all supplied and included in the cost.
  • Taxe de Sejour:  in France, it is necessary to pay a “Taxe de Séjour” at the end of your stay. It has been included here in the rental cost.
  • Damage Deposit: The owner asks for a deposit of 500 euros, payable locally and refunded at the end of your stay, less the cost of any breakages. 
  • Change-over day. In high season it is Saturday. For out of high season lets, please ask.
  • Long weekend stays: Sorry, these are not available at this property
  • Pets:  Sorry, pets are not permitted at this property

  • By Car – Directions by car from the A6 motorway
  • By Air –  Marseilles, Avignon and Nimes airports all within 1 hour or 1½  hours
  • By Train - The high speed TGV service runs directly from London or Paris to Avignon or Aix en Provence and Marseilles.
