General Description

  • It was actually a Provencal silk farm expertly converted into a superb 5 bedroom holiday house which has retained many original features.

  • Situated in the heart of Maubec, a village of extreme beauty located in the Luberon National Park. Within 5 minutes walk you stumble across the local baker, a bar and  restaurant.

  • 5 air conditioned bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, modern fully equipped kitchen, comfortable sitting room with separate bar.

The Local Area

  • Maubec is a quiet village at the foot of the Luberon Mountains, with it’s own baker, village shop, restaurant, bar and post office.

  • Activities available locally in the village include tennis courts, walking and biking trails.

  • Maubec has been in the history books since the 12th century.   It’s a stunning old village: the mountain scenery, olive groves, cherry trees, and vineyards make it a small paradise waiting to be discovered.

  • There is a Farmers market in nearby Coustellet, (3kms), and other markets can be found in Oppede, L'Isle sur la Sorgue (famous for antiques).

  • Cavaillon is the nearest large town which is famous in France for having the best melons in Europe.

  • You’ll find the nearest supermarket in Cavaillon, 7km away. 

Facilities

  • Living room: With traditional beamed ceilings, stone walls, this comfortable living space has sofas and chairs, and includes a dining area with table and chairs
  • Dining room: Plenty of space for a large group, the dining area is within the large open plan living room.  The furniture is all antique and was sourced from L'Isle sur la Sorgue, the local antiques centre of Provence
  • Kitchen: A fully equipped kitchen, with oven, microwave, American style fridge/freezer with ice dispenser, food processor, dish washer and washing machine.  The house was planned and designed by a local chef with the intention of running cookery courses.  As a result, the kitchen and dining areas are fantastic and form a central part of the layout of the house.
  • Bedrooms:  In the main part of the house there are two bedrooms, one room with a double bed and one with single beds that can be joined together to form one large double bed of 180 cms.  In the other part of the house there are three further rooms.  One double on the ground floor, and on the first floor there are two more bedrooms that both have single beds that can be joined together to form large double beds of 180 cms width. All the rooms have ensuite shower rooms, basin and toilet and they are all air-conditioned - a real plus for the balmy summer months!
  • Bathrooms: As well as the en-suite shower rooms, there is a separate WC.
  • Other rooms: A unique feature of this property is the bar area, where you can sit and have a relaxing drink, or play cards and other games.
  • Outside: There is an interior converted barn for al fresco dinning, with top of the range built in barbecue, table, chairs and a kitchen area. Within the well-kept grounds, it’s also possible to find furniture for relaxing in the beautiful sunshine, and a ping-pong table, if you’re feeling a little bit more active.  There are electric gates and also secure parking for up to 3 cars
  • Swimming pool: The swimming pool is located in the walled garden, and is perfect for taking a quick dip to escape the heat of the day. It is open from 7 April and can be heated from April to the beginning of May for an additional charge of 150 euros.  It can also be heated from May to the end of September for no extra charge, if you wish.  The pool normally closes at the end of September, but if the weather is warm in October we are happy for you to use it.  There is an electrically operated cover over the pool.
  • Internet: Yes, this is available with wi-fi access.
  • Winter heating: Central heating is included if you visit during the cooler winter months, except between the 1 Jan and 31 March, and 17 November to 31 December when you will be charged for your consumption using the meter.
  • Telephone: Sorry, not available at the house
  • Baby facilities: Children are well catered for, with various games available.  Cots and high chairs are available on request, so just let us know what you’ll need when you book.
  • Electric, & water: Are all included in the rental cost. There is no gas
  • End-of-stay cleaning: The owner arranges both a mid week and end-of-stay cleaning service and this is included in the rental cost.
  • Bed & bathroom linen: The bedroom and household linnen is all brand new and of the highest quality and this is included in the rental cost, one set per week
  • Taxe de Sejour: in France, it is necessary to pay a “Taxe de Séjour” at the end of your stay. It has been included here in the rental cost.
  • Damage deposit: The owner requests a damage deposit of 1500 Euros on arrival and this will be refunded to you at the end of your stay, less the replacement cost of any breakages.
  • Change over day: Generally Saturday in high season but there is a bit of flexibility at other times, so please enquire.
  • Long weekend stays: Possible, please discuss with owner
  • Pets: Yes, on request.
  • Smoking: Smoking is not permitted inside this villa – sorry. 

How To Get There

·         By Car – Maubec is a 20 minute drive from the Cavaillon exit on the motorway A7

·         By Air - Marseille and Nimes Airports are the nearest - approximately 60 minutes drive away

·         By Train - The high speed TGV service runs directly from London or Paris to Avignon, approximately 50 minutes away
