General Description

  • For a big group or family this large villa, just 5 minutes drive from the beautiful Provencal town of Isle-sur-Sorgue, is perfect!
  • The country road leads through the pine forest and you enter the property through private gates. The independent 3-storey villa stands alone within a walled garden, with plenty of pine trees for shade and dining al fresco in the summer. The pool is large and private and the whole place feels calm and tranquil.
  • The accommodation is flexible as it comes in two parts: The main house has 5 bedrooms and two bathrooms (sleeps 8/10), while there is an apartment with separate entrance around the side of the house, which has 2 bedrooms and a bathroom (sleeps 3/4).
  • In July and August the whole property is let as one and you have exclusive use of the garden and pool so you can spread out and really feel at home here.

The Local Area

  • It's quite understandable if you just want to chill out at the villa, relax by the pool or sit in the shady garden. Plenty of games are provided including a ping-pong table, boules, a set of children's swings and a tree-rope for aspiring young Tarzans. There's even darts and a chessboard.

  • The town of L'Isle sur la Sorgue, just 3km away, is famous for it's numerous waterways and mills, for its many restaurants along the canal banks and above all for its antique shops. There are no fewer than 350 "Antiquaires", which makes it second only to Paris in the antiques trade.

  • If you're feeling sporty, the excellent Golf County Club is just round the corner, there's horse-riding 8 km away and the area is well known for great cycling and walking routes.

  • Not far away there's St Remy-de-Provence, famous for its Roman architecture, Les Baux with its ruined castle and unique rock formations or Avignon with the Palace of the Popes. Slightly further afield, but still within easy reach you'll find Marseille with its famous waterfront, the Amphitheatre at Nimes and the cultured avenues of Aix-en-Provence.

Facilities

  • Living area: The living area of this recently refurbished property provides plenty of space for the occupants, with French doors that open into the glorious Provencal sunshine.  Facilities include a sofa, two armchairs, a TV and a VCR.  There’s also a traditional stone fireplace, giving a real ‘homely’ feel, as well as dining facilities for up to 16 people.
  • Kitchen: In the very well equipped kitchen you'll find a dishwasher, electric oven, gas hob, microwave, large fridge/ freezer and a coffee machine.  There are further facilities in the ‘basement’, (see below).
  • Utility room: In the ‘basement’, which is actually another room at garden level, you’ll find a washing machine and tumble dryer, as well as another fridge, freezer and microwave – perfect if you feel the need for snacks while relaxing in the garden!
  • Bedrooms: In the main villa, there are a total of five bedrooms, with two more in a separate apartment attached to the property, (see ‘additional accommodation’).  The master bedroom is equipped with a double bed.  This room, and a second twin room, both have French windows that open onto the south-facing terrace.  Another double room looks out over the olive grove in the garden, while the last double room faces east.  Finally, there is a bedroom ‘under the eaves’ with three single beds.  Please note, however, this is unsuitable for young children, due to the steep stairs that are used to access it.  It does also become rather warm during the height of summer!
  • Bathrooms: There are two neatly decorated bathrooms – one with bath/shower and the other with a shower unit.
  • Additional accommodation: As well as the main villa, there is a small apartment that can accommodate 2-4 people.  The self-contained apartment has a private terrace, a well-equipped kitchen and a comfortable living/dining area that is equipped with a sofa, TV, VCR and stereo system, as well as dining facilities for four people.  One bedroom has a double bed and the second a single bed and a foldaway single bed.  There is also a shower room with WC.
  • Outside: The villa is set in 4000m2 of mature garden, within which you can find 30 olive and 30 pine trees.  There’s plenty of space to lose yourself, or participate in one of the many activities available, including ping-pong, boules, chess, darts or, for the children, there’s a Tarzan swing and small play area.  Alternatively, you can just lounge about on the supplied furniture in the great Provencal sunshine! The villa itself has a large terrace extending along two sides of the building, where you can simply relax, and dine al fresco during those long, lazy days!  For those who want to carry on enjoying the beautiful weather after dark, the terrace can be lit up and the pool has underwater lights.
  • Swimming pool: The 10m x 5m swimming pool is more than adequate for frolicking about during the long, warm, days.  With underwater lighting, it adds to the overall comforting ambience of the place at night.
  • Baby facilities: Cots and high chairs are available on request, so please let us know what you need when you book.
  • Internet: There is Wifi Internet access at this property
  • Winter heating: The owner requests an additional charge for heating if you visit between October and April.  If the weather is fine and no heating is required, this will be refunded.
  • Gas, electric, & water: These are all included in the rental cost.
  • End-of-stay cleaning: The owner arranges end-of-stay cleaning, and asks for 150 Euros to cover this.
  • Bed & bathroom linen: Bedding, towels and all household linen can be hired for 11 euros per person per week.
  • Taxe de Sejour: In France, it is necessary to pay a “Taxe de Séjour” at the end of your stay. It has been included here in the rental cost.
