Villa Liberté
General Description
- This lovely characterful villa, completely and beautifully renovated ,is in a great location on the edge of the attractive town of Narbonne on an ancient route leading to the seaside resort of Gruissan with its fine sandy beaches. It has a private, walled swimming pool.
- You can be at the supermarket, shops, cafe-bars and restaurants in just 3 minutes by car, in the town within 5 minutes, and on the beach within 15 minutes.
- Villa Liberte is air-conditioned and has a large open-plan living space and kitchen on the ground floor, and 4 bedrooms, all with king size double beds and en-suite facilities on the 1st and 2nd floors.
- Outside there's a garden and a shaded terrace with a large dining table and chairs for al fresco dining and parking for 2 cars.
- The swimming pool is in the sunniest spot in the garden and surrounded by a wall offering you both privacy and shelter from the breeze. The pool area is very spacious and here you will find a barbecue, a table and chairs and a good number of sun-loungers.
- From the garden and pool area you can see the Massif de la Clape - a hilly area just behind the coast where some of the greatest wines in the region are produced.
- The villa of 200 sq.m. overall is ideal for a large family, two smaller families holidaying together, or up to four couples. It is open for rental all year round and long weekends are possible from October to the end of April.
The Local Area
- Narbonne is a really attractive town divided into 2 parts by the Canal de Robine. It has many sites of interest including the Hotel de Ville, the cathedral and cloister of Saint Juste, boat trips on the Canal du Midi, the Roman Horreum, the Archbishop's Palace, and the indoor market Les Halles. The town also has a good selection of individual shops, cafe-bars and restaurants.
- Sports Facilites: There are lots of cycling routes locally from Narbonne to the coastal beach resorts and between the resorts themselves so this is a great place if you like cycling. For swimming (as well as the pool) there's a wide choice of beaches at Gruissan, Narbonne Plage, Sainte Marie la Mer and other resorts. Or you can try Espace Liberte, an olympic size swimming pool in Narbonne. You can play golf at Sainte Rose just 3kms away, or hire bikes from a local company - just ask us for details! The local beaches offer windsurfing, kite surfing and all different types of watersports through the summer months.
- Activities: There are a wealth of things to see and do in the Languedoc. The Cathar Castles, the fascinating Abbeys of Fontfroide and Lagrasse and the many and varied wine chateaux and domaines. A visit to this region would not be complete without a trip the medieval city of Carcassonne, plus the lively and attractive town of Beziers. Montpellier is the lovely 'capital' of the Languedoc and is easy to explore with trams running to the centre from the outskirts of the city. A day trip to Spain is easy as the border is just 90 minutes away by car! Ask us for a full list of 'not to miss' places.
- Markets: The local markets are colourful and interesting and full of fresh local produce and lots more! You can find them in Narbonne on a Thursday and Sunday morning and daily in Les Halles until lunchtime.
- Restaurants: There are restaurants in Narbonne to suit every budget and taste. We'll be pleased to help you with recommendations.
- Supermarkets: The nearest supermarket is Carrefour just 2kms away.
Facilities
- Living Room: You enter the villa into a splendid large living space which comprises a sitting room, a bar area, and on a raised level the dining room and kitchen. It really is a very light, bright and spacious area. The living room has leather sofas and armchairs, a coffee table, and a TV receiving French channels along with a DVD player. The bar area is for serving drinks and comes complete with a couple of high bar stools.
- Dining Area: There's a lovely large farmhouse dining table and 8 chairs.
- Kitchen: The ktichen is spacious and newly fitted with a fridge/freezer, microwave, hob and oven, dishwasher, plenty of storage space, etc. You'll find a washing machine in a separate laundry area.
- Bedrooms: There are four in total all with kingsize double beds. A cot is possible for a baby. All the rooms are air-conditioned and very well appointed, beautifully decorated and with lovely bed linens. One of the bedrooms even has a small sitting room.
- Bathrooms: Each bedroom has a lovely en-suite shower room. 3 of the 4 WC's are separate.
- Outside: You'll find a spacious garden with mature trees, and a lovely shaded terrace with a dining table and 8 chairs. There is shaded parking for 2 cars.
- Swimming Pool: This is in the sunniest spot in the garden and is 8m x 4m. It is surrounded by a wall with a lockable gate and complies with all the current safety regulations. On the large paved area surrounding the pool you will find plenty of sun-loungers, a table and chairs for dining and a barbecue. The wall makes the pool area very private and sheltered from any breezes.
- Internet: An internet connection is available here via Wifi and via your own laptop.
- Telephone: Sorry there is no landline telephone here but mobile phone signals in the area are generally good.
- Baby Facilities: A cot and a high chair are available upon request.
- Winter Heating: A supplementary charge for the heating in cooler months is required at 50 euros (or £ equivalent) per week. This generally applies from October to the end of April.
- Gas, Electric and Water: Except for heating from October to the end of April, these are all included in the rental price.
- End of Stay Cleaning: Is included in the rental price. If you require a mid-stay cleaning service, please enquire.
- Bed and Bathroom Linen: Are all included in the rental price.
- Taxe de Sejour: In France it is necessary to pay a taxe de sejour at the end of your stay. It is included here in the rental price.
- Damage Deposit: The owners request a damage deposit of 500 euros by credit card authorisation via Joie de Vivre. This will be returned to you shorlty after the end of your holiday less the relacement cost of any damage or breakages.
- Change Over Day: Saturday, except from October to the end of April when alternative days may be possible. Please enquire.
- Long Weekend Stays: Possible from October to the end of April and subject to availability. Please enquire.
- Pets: Sorry - pets are not permitted at this villa.
How To Get There
- By Car: The villa is located approximately 1 km from Exit 37 on the A9 Autoroute.
- By Air: The nearest airports are: Beziers (serviced by Ryanair and Flybe from the UK), Montpellier (serviced by Ryanair and Easy Jet from the UK), Perpignan, Carcassonne, Toulouse, and Girona (N.Spain).
