Port Rive Gauche Roof Terrace Apartment
General Description
- These third floor apartments at Marseillan port in Languedoc Roussillon epitomise luxury, stylish living and enjoy the most fantastic lagoon and sea view from their private roof terrace.
- They sleep four people comfortably in 2 bedrooms, and would be ideal for a family or just a couple looking for a romantic holiday or a celebration of a special event.
- Newly converted from an ancient wine store, these apartments, of which there are four in total, are very well-designed and are all fairly similar with just small changes in the layout, decor and furnishings. All have the most magnificent view of the Etang de Thau, the sea, the port of Sete and the Mont St Clair in the distance.
- This type of apartment is 57-64 square metres in size, with 2 bedrooms; one a double, the other with twin beds, a bathroom, an open plan living area complete with fully-equipped kitchen, and a private roof terrace.
- The decor and soft furnishings of the apartments feature natural shades, with the blue of the sea forming the perfect background.
- There's full air-conditioning in summer and heating in the cooler months.
- Port Rive Gauche is located facing the lagoon and the sea at the entrance to the very attractive port of Marseillan and you can eaily walk to the many restaurants and the shops there in just a few minutes.
- When you want to spend some time on the beach Marseillan Plage is just 10 minutes away by car, or in the high summer there's a regular bus service from the town.
- Little luxuries include a flat screen satellite TV and DVD, an iPod docking station, free WiFi and a hairdryer. A continental breakfast may be ordered at the Reception if you wish and it is delivered to your door - 12.5 euros for adults and 7 euros for children.
The Local Area
- Marseillan is divided into three parts: the lovely historic port area, the village and the beach resort. It's just a very short walk from the apartment to both the port and the village which have shops, restaurants and the very interesting Noilly Prat distillery (featured in Rick Stein's French Odyssey TV progamme). Its well worth a visit.
- Marseillan is a truly delightful spot and a real favourite of Joie de Vivre. The local beach is of fine sand and is about 10 minutes away to the south by car or there is a regular bus service to the beach in the summer months. Larger cities and towns in the immediate area include Beziers, Agde/Cap d'Agde, Pezenas and Sete.
- Sports Facilities: A wide range of water sports is available at several coastal resorts in the region e.g. sailing, scuba diving, wind surfing etc. If you like to play a round of golf, there's a fine golf course at Cap d'Agde. Walking and cycling are both very enjoyable pursuits around here.
- Activities: There's a wealth of things to see and do in this area for example in Sete you can see the nautical jousting tournaments in July and August. Alternatively you can hire a boat at various locations on the Canal du Midi, visit the ancient and interesting city of Agde, museums, abbeys and churches. Further afield: Narbonne, Carcassonne, Beziers and even a day trip to Spain is easily possible. A lovely day out would be to visit to Pezenas, a fascinating place full of history and interest and where Moliere wrote his plays. For nightlife and nightclubs - visit Cap d'Agde.
- Markets: The market in Marseillan is on a Tuesday morning. Sunday is the day for the flea market at Marseillan Plage.
- Restaurants: There are many lovely restaurants for you to enjoy in Marseillan Port and you can find more details of these at the Reception desk. Seafood is a local speciality and should be enjoyed with a glass of the local wine or a cool beer!
- Supermarket: There are many small shops in Marseillan including a supermarket. For a larger supermarket, you'll find one in Agde or in Sete.
Facilities
- Living/Dining Room: The living room, dining area and kitchen are all open plan to each other with plenty of windows allowing lots of light to penetrate and wonderful views out over the lagoon and the sea. This spacious room is beautifully designed and decorated and offers a good level of comfort. The decor and furnishings of each apartment varies a little but not in terms of overall quality.
- Comfortable sofas and armchairs are provided together with a flat screen satellite TV receiving mainly French channels, a DVD player and Bose ipod dock. There is also a cordless telephone, call charges are payable at the reception.
- Roof terrace: Each of this type of apartment has a roof terrace accessed from the apartment via French doors. The outside space is equipped with a high quality dining table, 4 chairs, a parasol and sun-loungers. The terrace is ideal for sun-bathing or for dining alfresco.
- Kitchen: Fully equipped with ceramic hob, multifunction oven, dishwasher, kettle and electric coffee maker, toaster, minibar, cookware and kitchen utensils. A washing machine is located in a separate laundry area, available to guests for a small charge.
- Bedrooms: There are two bedrooms stylishly decorated and air-conditioned; one is a double room with a king size bed (180cms x 200cms), and the other is a twin-bedded room ( 2 x 90cms x 200cms). Both the bedroooms overlook the Etang de Thau.
- Bathroom: One bathroom with WC, washbasin and bath tub. The WC is separate.
- Lift: As well as a staircase, all apartments are accessible by a lift.

- Parking: There is free street parking available to the side and rear of the apartments. If you wish to use the secure on-site underground car park, there is a supplementary parking charge of 10 euros per night or 50 euros per week. Please note the spaces are for small and medium size cars; they are not suitable for large cars and 4 x 4's. We recommend that you book your undercover parking, if required, at the time of placing your booking, for the current sterling equivalent - please enquire.
- Internet: A WiFI internet connection is available for use with your own laptop. There is no charge for the WiFi.
- Telephone: A cordless phone is provided. Any calls are charged to your apartment and are payable at the Reception.
- Baby Facilities: Sorry, no baby facilities are available for this type of apartment.
- Air Conditioning/Winter Heating: The apartments have reversible air-conditioning and heating - the cost is included in the rental price.
- Electric and Water: are included in the rental price.
- End of stay cleaning: Is included in the rental price except for the kitchen which you are requested to clean yourselves before departure. If your stay is for 14 days, a cleaning service is included at the end of the first week and at the end of your stay.
- Bed and Bathroom Linen: are included in the rental price.
- Extra Facilities: Continental breakfast can be ordered at the Reception which is delivered to your apartment - the guide price is 12.50 euros per adult and 7 euros per child.
- Taxe de Sejour: In France it is necessary to pay a Taxe de Sejour at the end of your stay. It is payable here on departure at the guide rate of 44 centimes per person per night.
- Damage Deposit: The owners request a damage deposit of 500 Euros payable in cash or by credit card on arrival. It will be refunded to you at the end of your stay less the replacement cost of any breakages or damage.
- Long weekend stays and mini breaks: Please enquire for the price and availability of shorter stays - minimum 3 nights in the High Season. The price per night includes a daily cleaning service.
- Pets: are not permitted here, sorry.
How To Get There
- By Car: Marseillan is on the edge of the Etang de Thau and is accessed from Exit 33 or 34 on the A9 Languedocienne Autoroute.
- By Air: The nearest airports are Beziers/Cap d'Agde (20 mins drive) and Montpellier (40 mins drive) serviced by Ryanair, Easy Jet and Flybe from the UK. Alternative airports would be Carcassonne, Perpignan and Nimes - these are all approx. 80 minutes drive from Marseillan.
