General Description

  • Another real find for us in an area we absolutely love.  Mas St Louis is a great property and the countryside, tranquillity and views surrounding it are stunning.

  • This is a traditional stone built farmhouse in the very heart of the Luberon, which can very comfortably accommodate 8 people.

  • The day I visited was a lovely, sunny summers day so the pool and outside terrace looked particularly inviting.

  • For most visitors, the thick stone walls and traditional shutters at the windows will be much welcomed to help you stay cool.

  • That said, the same thick stone walls and the traditional fireplace inside the house would also make the house feel lovely and warm and cosy for winter evenings as well.

  • I think the key with this one is that it is a good standard of accommodation, tranquility, tradition and privacy and right in the midst of lovely countryside.

The Local Area

  • The scenery around this part of the Luberon is stunning.  There are views in all directions and the property is ideally placed for some marvelous countryside walks.

  • The peace and tranquility is broken only by the sounds of the crickets and the bells of distant goats as they forage in the hills - it really is idyllic!

  • There are many Regional summer festivities: Theater in Avignon, Opera in Aix and Orange, Jazz festival in La Roque d’Antheron and many antique fairs and flea markets.

  • There is Tennis available in Apt or Bonnieux, horse riding in Apt, mountain bikes for rent in Bonnieux.

  • There are some excellent restaurants in the area and in particular in Buoux, the Auberge de la Loube is only 1km away - so you don't even have to drive!

  • If you like the idea of a visit to the coast, you can set off in the morning, take a swim in the warm waters of the Mediterranean and easily return in the early evening.

Facilities

  • The house has an unusual setting on the side of a hill so the property is laid out over three levels and, with total floor area of 110m², there’s plenty of space.
  • Living room: The living area is located a few steps away from the kitchen, and contains a couple of comfortable sofa beds, a TV and a fireplace for the cooler winter evenings.  There’s also dining facilities for the occupants, good for eight people.
  • Kitchen: The fully equipped kitchen has everything you’re likely to need – including an oven, fridge, freezer, microwave, washing machine and dishwasher.  There’s also a small dining table and chairs, but the main area is located in the living area.
  • Bedrooms: There are a total of four bedrooms: two double rooms, and two rooms with two single beds in each.  With the sofa beds in the lounge, the maximum comfortable occupancy is brought up to 8.
  • Bathrooms: There are plenty of bathroom facilities located around the property.  There are three WCs, a bathroom, a shower room and an external shower room, so there should not be too many queues during busy times!
  • Outside: During the summer, you’re likely to be spending most of your time outside, enjoying the beautiful weather. The kitchen and lounge have doors that lead onto a large private terrace, where you can dine al fresco, (there’s even a BBQ included!), that has views of the surrounding scenery.  With there being no neighbours in sight, it feels as if the whole valley is yours!  If you fancy a change of scenery, the property has a second terrace.  There’s also plenty of private parking.
  • Swimming pool: The private swimming pool measure 8m x 4m and is ideal for taking a quick dip to escape the heat of the day.  Alternatively, you can choose to bask in the sunshine on the supplied loungers!
  • Internet: Is not available at this location I'm afraid, but there are serveral cafes that offer wifi access in the area.
  • Telephone: There is a telephone connection at this property.
  • Baby facilities: A cot is available on request.
  • Winter heating: If you choose to visit during the winter months, as small supplement is charged for winter heating. This is based on usage, which is measured using a meter.
  • Gas, electric, & water: These are all included in the rental cost.
  • End-of-stay cleaning: The owner requests that you leave the property in the same clean and tidy state that you found it.  The owner arranges the end-of-stay cleaning for 50 Euros, this is payable locally please.
  • Bed & bathroom linen: Bed and bathroom linen, as well as tea towels, are not included in the rental cost.  However, if you don’t want to bring your own, these can be rented for 8 Euros per person.
  • Taxe de Sejour: In France, it is necessary to pay a “Taxe de Séjour” at the end of your stay. It has been included here in the rental cost.
  • Damage deposit: The owner requests a damage deposit of 500 Euros on arrival and this will be refunded to you at the end of your stay, less the replacement cost of any breakages.  This can be paid by cheque in your local currency if this is easier.
  • Change over day: The change over day is Saturday during the high season, although during the low season flexibility is possible
  • Long weekend stays: These are not usually permitted during the high season, although flexibility is possible during the low season.
  • Pets: Well-behaved pets are permitted at this property.
  • Smoking: Smoking is permitted inside this property.
