General Description
· Please note: this property is only available for reservations of 2 consecutive weeks or more.
The Local Area
· The property is ideally situated on the border of two famous regions of the South of France; Provence and the Languedoc Roussillon.
· The nearest village of St Laurent des Arbres is only a 10 minute stroll away and is well served with shops, bars, a weekly market and a restaurant
· The nearest large stores are about ten minutes drive away and the supermarket is 10kms away
· There are also great leisure facilities available with free tennis in the village and horse riding just 500m away. There is also good golf a short drive away and for any beach lovers, a morning or afternoon at the Med is easily achieved
- Just a short drive away is the walled and historic city of Avignon, an excellent place to visit all year round but especially in July when the festival takes over
· The vineyards of the mighty Rhone are literally on the doorstep; Chateauneuf du Pape, Gigondas and Vaqueyras are all a stones throw away
· For some more history, Orange, the Pont du Gard with its amazing Roman aqueduc, Nimes and Aix en Provence are all worth a visit
· It really is situated at the centre of a great area for exploring and visiting.
Facilities
· Living room: There is a beautiful large dining and living room which is full of beautiful antiques, both traditional Provencal and from Asia
· Kitchen: A traditional and fully equipped Provencal kitchen
· Bedrooms: There are 8 bedrooms in the main house and all the beds are double but cvan be converted to twin if required. One of the rooms has three beds in it.
· Bathrooms: There are 6 bathrooms in total, 1 jacuzzi, 4 baths and one shower
· Additional accommodation: There is an additional cottage in the grounds which has one bedroom and one bathroom with a shower. A wonderful Jacuzzi has recently been added to this property.
· Outside: There is 3500m² of land, 2800m² of which is garden. There is plenty of space for eating out or relaxing in the grounds, either in the enclosed and comfortably shaded garden or by the pool area. There is also parking for 8-9 cars
· Swimming pool: The pool is a 10 metre diameter round pool which The swimming pool has a relaxing "beach" right next to it. There is also an automatic current for swimming enthusiasts. There are showers, sun-bathing areas, sun-awnings, tables, everything you need to relax and enjoy a luxurious swimming pool and garden in the south of France!
· Internet: This can be arranged upon request
· Baby facilities: High chair and baby cot are available
· Winter heating: This is included in the price
· Gas, electric, & water: are all included in the rental cost.
· End-of-stay cleaning: is included in the rental cost. If it is a two week booking, there is also a mid-holiday cleaning service on the Saturday
· Bed & bathroom linen: is included in the rental cost.
· Taxe de Sejour: in France, it is necessary to pay a “Taxe de Séjour” at the end of your stay. It has been included here in the rental cost.
· Damage deposit: The owner requests a damage deposit of 2500 Euros on arrival and this will be refunded to you at the end of your stay, less the replacement cost of any breakages. This is relatively high due to the beautiful and often antique furniture throughout the house. However, to make it easy for you, you can put this on your credit card on arrival
· Change over day: Generally Saturday but flexible outside of May to September.
· Long weekend stays: Yes, on request
· Pets: small pets are permitted by request only.
How To Get There
· By Car - The village of St Laurent des Arbres lies just a couple of minutes away and Avignon is 17kms away. Orange and Chateauneuf-du-Pape are also only about ten minutes away
· By Air - The closest airports are Avignon (20kms), Nimes and Marseille - approximately 60 minutes drive away
· By Train - The high speed TGV service runs directly from London or Paris to Avignon, approximately 20 minutes away
