Mas du Rigole
General Description
- Mas du Rigole is a beautiful, luxurious, stone farmhouse in the Lauragais region between Toulouse, Carcassone and Albi, close to the interesting towns of Castelnaudary, Revel, Carcassonne and the Canal du Midi.
- Its situated in grounds of 4000 square metres where you can relax under the lime and chestnut trees far away from the 'madding crowd'. It has a lovely garden with a private swimming pool.
- The Mas is an ideal place for a relaxing holiday for a large family or perhaps two families holidaying together, being one of the most attractive houses we have ever seen in the region.
- It is beautifully furnished with a well-chosen mix of antique and modern furniture. It is very stylishly decorated and has lovely big windows that let in lots of natural light.
- The house has five bedrooms, 2 with kingsize double beds, 1 with a standard double bed and 2 with twin beds that can be made into large double beds if you prefer. There is a cot for a baby too!
- There are 3 newly fitted shower/bath rooms, and a further shower/WC near to the swimming pool.
- The very grand entrance hall leads to the living room which is large and attractive with comfortable sofas and armchairs, a fireplace for the cooler months, and TV receiving French satellite+ channels and a stereo system. The dining room is adjacent and open-plan to the kitchen which is well-presented and well equipped with quality appliances, cooking equipment and crockery.
- Adjacent to the house and near the swimming pool is a lovely summer dining room. A really fabulous area for dinner parties that go on long into the night.
- The owners have thought of everything here to make your holiday memorable for all the right reasons - this house is available from June to the end of September.
The Local Area

The local small village of Saint Paulet is 300m away. The larger villages of Saint Felix de Lauragais and Labastide d'Anjou are 7kms and 8kms away respectively. There you'll find boulangeries, butchers etc and, in each village, a bar and a restuarant.
- For activity lovers - on the Mas you can enjoy table tennis, croquet, petanque, badminton, volley-ball, basket-ball and swimming - all equipment is supplied. There are lots of lovely walks and bike rides locally - especially alongside La Rigole - a water course leading down to the Canal du Midi. (Bikes may be hired). There are several golf courses close by.
- As well as exploring the lovely Lauragais region, great days out can be spent at Carcassonne, Castelanudary (one of the bases of the Foreign Legion), Toulouse (with the Space City for children), Albi and Revel. You can drive to Andorra quite easily for a different kind of day out. Watersports such as wind-surfing, sailing, canoeing etc can be enjoyed at Lac de Saint Ferriol and Lac de la Ganguise.
- Markets - in this region they are colourful and very interesting selling lots of lovely, fresh local produce. Locally you'll find markets at Villefranche de Lauragais, Revel and Castelnaudary.
- Restaurants - two restaurants within 8kms and several Michelin star restaurants within a short drive.
- Supermarkets- there are several in Castelnaudary - 12kms away, or in Revel - 13 kms.
Facilities
- Living Room: Spacious and stylish and ideal for a family with large comfortable sofas and armchairs. For the cooler months, you can enjoy a fire in the large fireplace. There's a music system and a TV receiving French satellite + TV channels and a DVD player.
- Grand Entrance Hall: Opening up to the fill height of the house with a staircase accessing the bedrooms. This area has beautiful antique furniture and is a lovely place to relax and read. There is also a piano for music lovers.
- Dining Room: Another lovely room with a dining table and leather dining chairs. This is open-plan to the kitchen.
- Kitchen: With quality appliances, cooking equipment and crockery. A lovely kitchen for those who like cooking! Hob, Oven, Microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, vacuum cleaner , iron etc etc. There is also a Magimix Nespress coffee machine and a classic cafetiere.
- Bedrooms: All the bedrooms are furnished attractively with built-in or free-standing wardrobes. Quality bed linen and towels are provided. On the ground floor is a double bedroom with large double bed. Upstairs are 2 double bedrooms with double beds, and 2 further bedrooms with twin beds, which can be made into large double beds if you prefer.
- Bathrooms:There is a lovely bathroom with shower and separate WC on the ground floor, and on the first floor two well-equipped shower rooms with separate WC. In a part of the house near the summer dining room/kitchen and near the swimming pool you'll also find a further WC and a shower. Hairdryers are provided.
- Summer Dining Room: On the side of the house next to the swimming pool area is a lovely summer dining room with oven hob, fridge, microwave, dishwasher, etc.
- Outside: the house has lovely grounds, a large attractive garden with flower beds, 2 terraces - one near to the dining room benefiting from the full sun, and another near to the kitchen in the shade. Garden furniture and sun-loungers are provided. There is private parking for 3 cars.
- Swimming Pool: A pool 10m long x 5m wide with an alarm for security, and surrounded by attractive dry-stone walls. It has a sun deck for al fresco dining. Sun-loungers and parsols are available.
- Internet: You can connect to the internet here via your own laptop and a WiFi connection.
- Telephone: Sorry - there is no telephone connection here.
- Baby Facilities: A cot and a high are available on request.
- Winter Heating: The house is centrally heated and this is included in the price of your holiday.
- Gas, Electric and Water: These are included in the price of your holiday.
- End of stay cleaning: 3 hours end of stay cleaning is included in the price of your holiday. If you would like a mid-stay clean, this is possible, please enquire with the owners.
- Bed and bathroom linen: Is included in the price of your holiday. Swimming pool towels are also provided for you.
- Taxe de Sejour: In France it is necessary to pay a Taxe de Sejour at the end of your stay. It has been included here in the rental cost.
- Damage Deposit: The owners request a damage deposit of 600 Euros on arrival and this will be returned to you at the end of your stay less the replacement cost of any breakages.
- Change over day: Saturday.
- Pets: Well-behaved pets are permitted here with prior permission.
How To Get There
- By Car: The property is situated to the North West of Castelnaudary, between Carcassonne and Toulouse. The nearest autoroute exit is No:21 on the A61 Autoroute des Deux Mers.
- By Air: Carcassonne (Ryanair) - 40 minutes drive and Toulouse airports (BMi, British Airways and EasyJet) - also 40 minutes drive, are the closest. Other possibilities are Beziers, Montpellier, Perpignan and Girona (N. Spain).
- By Train: The nearest railway stations are at Castelnaudary and Villefranche de Lauragais. Please refer to the link to RAIL EUROPE on our Home Page for train times and tickets.
