  • It comprises a spacious living room with an archway through to the dining room, a newly-fitted kitchen, and upstairs a double bedroom with en-suite facilities and views over the garden and swimming pool, and two twin bedrooms which share a family bathroom.  The house is semi-detached from the owners' property and has its own private front entrance.  At the rear is an exquisite walled garden and large, attractive swimming pool.
  • The property is on a quiet residential road in Mirepeisset, an attractive village with 2 restaurants and a small grocer/bakers, easily within walking distance.
  • The garden of the property is very well-maintained and there's a private terrace with dining table and chairs from which you can enjoy the view.
  • This property will suit either a family or two couples holidaying together.
  • The village is a good place from which to explore the stunning sights of the Languedoc region.

The Local Area

  • Mirepeisset dates back to Roman times and its medieval ramparts, gateway and aqueduct remain today.  The village nestles in the Minervois vineyards and is close to the River Cesse which, in summer, is dammed to create a clear water pool for swimming.  Nearby is a picnic area with tables and barbeques.  the village has 2 restaurants and a small grocery/boulangerie for your morning bread.  There's a play area with swings, tennis and basketball courts and a pizza restaurant beside the river.  Mirepeisset in 'Occitan' means 'see the little fishes'.
  • Sports Facilities:  Horse-riding is also available in the village; you can play a round of golf at Beziers or Carcassonne, and the area is great for walking and cycling.  Bikes can be hired locally and delivered to your door - just ask us for the details.  At the Mediterannean coast all types of watersports are on offer during the summer months, and also wind surfing and kite boarding locally at Lac du Jouarres.
  • Sight-seeing: This is a great base from which to explore the lovely Languedoc region.  Narbonne is just 20 minutes drive away; a thriving sea port in Roman times but now inland and divided into two parts by the Canal de la Robine.   Ten minutes further on from Narbonne is Narbonne Plage with its fine, sandy beach and also the quaint, interesting, fishing village of Gruissan.  Locally you can walk along the Canal du Midi, busy with passing boats, and discover the interesting canal architecture in the nearby village of Le Somail.  To the North, you can visit Beziers, the lovely coastal town of Marseillan and the Haut Languedoc National Park. To the South, you can visit the mountains of the Pyrenees, the lovely Cote Vermeille and take a day trip into Spain.
  • Markets:  The local markets are colourful and interesting and full of fresh local produce.  Near to Mirepeisset you'll find one in Olonzac on a Tuesday morning, Lezignan Corbieres on a Wednesday morning and in Narbonne on a Thursday and Sunday.  Narbonne has a renowned indoor food market in Les Halles open every morning of the year and well worth a visit.
  • Restaurants: Mirepeisset has two restaurants and there are more in the neighbouring village of Le Somail by the side of the Canal du Midi, al  are within walking distance.  There are many other restaurants in the surrounding villages and Joie de Vivre can provide you with some suggestions.
  • Supermarket:  This is just 1.5 kms away in St Marcel sur Aude.
