General Description

  • Recently renovated in the local style, its an outstanding place to spend your holiday. The House consists of 2 independent buildings and a studio, covering a space of 200m2. Furthermore the delightful pool (12m×6m) is there for your sole enjoyment!
  • The property is a few minutes walk from Lourmarin, which has all the appealing charms of a village in the Luberon, this is where Peter Mayle came back to live...4 acres of land to yourselves ( the other 4 belong exclusively to the owners)  makes for a serene setting.
  • Ideal for 2 families or friends travelling together, The two separate wings and studio which has it’s own bathroom and WC, provides 5 double bedrooms, with the possibility of 3 additional single beds, if needed, 2 bathrooms, two shower rooms, four lavatories, 2 living rooms, 1 dinning room, two kitchens
  • Outside there are two spacious, shaded, south-facing terraces.

The Local Area

  • The local village Lourmarin, has plenty of restaurants (two very well known, the Moulin de Lourmarin, and the Auberge de La Feniere ) and several local bars serving good food.
  • There are also shops selling quality arts and crafts. 
  • If you would like to do something cultural the 15th century Chateau is open to the public. Albert Camus lived here, and is buried in the church cemetery.
  • Sports facilities available include walking, Mountain biking, archery, horse riding, mini golf. Tennis.
  • For little ones there is a playground in the Chateau’s grounds.
  • Local markets come to Lourmarin on Friday morning.
  • You’ll find the nearest supermarket in Puyvert 2kms or Apt 15kms

Facilities

  • Living room: The main living room has comfy sofas, coffee table with open fireplace, beamed ceilings and arched entrance to the dinning area. The second living room has all the comforts, with the artistic added touch.
  • Dining room: The arched entrance from living room to dining area is an interesting feature.
  • Kitchen: The main kitchen is tasteful and practical it has all the essential equipment for your stay, with views to the terrace and pool. The second kitchen, which is smaller, is equipped in exactly the same way.
  • Bedrooms: The five bedrooms are attractively decorated in individual style with comfort and panache.
  • Bathrooms: There are 2 bathrooms both with bath and shower plus two en-suite shower rooms.
  • Outside: Huge shaded terraces with a built in barbecue, and chairs and tables, allows you to enjoys the long Provencal summer evenings.
  • Swimming pool: The more than adequately sized pool with its fountain and statue is perfect for an occasional dip or, if you are a sporty type, several lengths. It is protected by an alarm and heated in the cooler months.
  • Internet: A Wi Fi connection is available at this property.
  • Telephone: Unfortunately, there is no telephone connection available.
  • Baby facilities: There is a baby cot available but please remember to bring your own bed linen for the cot.
  • Winter heating: If you visit during the cooler months there is a charge of 120 euros for Winter heating, payable locally to the owner.
  • Gas, electric, & water: These are all included in the rental cost. There is no gas.
  • End-of-stay cleaning: End-of-stay cleaning is arranged by the owner and the charge of 150 euros for this service is payable locally.
  • Bed & bathroom linen:  if you wish to hire bedding and towels, please let us know in advance and there is a charge of 15 euros per person per week.
  • Taxe de Sejour: in France, it is necessary to pay a “Taxe de Séjour” at the end of your stay. It has been included here in the rental cost.
  • Damage deposit: The owner requests a damage deposit of 3000 Euros on arrival and this will be refunded to you at the end of your stay, less the replacement cost of any breakages. This can be paid by cheque, which will be returned at the end of your holiday.
  • Change over day: Saturday during the high season, but flexibility may be possible during the low season.
  • Long weekend stays: These are possible - please discuss with owner
  • Pets: Well behaved pets are accepted at this property – please let us know in advance of your holiday.

How To Get There

  • By Car – Lourmarin is close to the A7 and A51 autoroutes making it easily accessible from the North and South.  It is approximately a ten hour drive from Calais, and just over 2 hours from Nice
  • By Air - Marseille and Nimes Airports are the nearest - approximately 60 minutes drive away
  • By Train - The high speed TGV service runs directly from London or Paris to Avignon, approximately 50 minutes away 
  • Full directions etc will be sent once you make a booking.
