General Description

  • In the heart of the National Park of the Luberon, the pretty village of Caseneuve is only a few minutes walk away from this most agreeable property, which faces the Luberon Mountains

  • A four bed-roomed stone cottage with plenty of character has all the features for a fantastic holiday, in this exceptional part of Southern France.
  • Additionally the owners- who have a small gite on the property which they occasionally use- have created a distinctive outdoor kitchen and living area, which makes the heated pool and barbecue irresistible. 

  • Whether your idea of a holiday is to relax, be sporty, eat and drink well or discover what makes this area so seductive, then this is an ideal location.

  • PLEASE NOTE: This property is only available for a minimum of 2 week bookings during July and August.  Outside of these months weekly bookings are very welcome.

The Local Area

  • The LuberonNational Park is a place of great beauty known for its rich flora and fauna. Indeed discovering the Luberon is a must, with hiking and biking trails clearly marked throughout the park, and for the less energetic there are countless spots for family-picnics. 

  • In less than a ten minute drive are two delightful villages, Viens and St Martin de Castillon, where you can buy freshly baked bread, basic grocery needs, or simply enjoy a drink at a café in the warm sunshine.
  • Apt, located just fifteen minutes away is well-known for its markets; actually as early as the 12th century a weekly market in the town took place, and it has received an award for ‘exceptional French market’ for its lively atmosphere. With history dating back to Roman times, culture and shopping plus a whole range of restaurants to choose from, the town is certainly worth a visit. 

  • If you are here when the Lavender blooms do go to Sault, where the tourist office can advise you on specialized walks through the Lavender fields along with many other events, such as the Lavender festival in August. 
  • Not far away is Rustrel, an amazing find with the Colorado of Provence, an extraordinary ochre rock formation - the kids will love it!  
  • Many of the villages mentioned in Peter Mayle’s book ‘A year in Provence’ like Menerbes, Bonnieux, Lacoste are nearby. Further afield Avignon and it’s Palace of the popes and of course the famous bridge of the song ‘Sur le pont D’Avignon’ are definitely worth a visit. 
  • Walking, cycling, horse-riding, tennis are all nearby. Table-tennis, boules and a basketball net are all provided on the property as well as the swimming pool. 
  • Markets can be found in Apt on Saturday and Tuesday. An antiques market at the weekends in Islesur la Sorgue is also very popular. 
  • The nearest supermarket is in Apt 10km away and about ten to fifteen minutes drive.  

Facilities

  • Sitting room/Dining room; Bright and cheerful with Provencal decoration throughout. The furnishings are practical and combined with antiques. There is a sofa and armchairs placed by a cosy fireplace and for entertainment, a flat-screen TV with DVD, plus if you do eat indoors a round dining table with chairs.
  • Kitchen; A well equipped kitchen with an oven, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine plus fridge /freezer, table and chairs.
  • Bedrooms; There are four fair-sized bedrooms which are decorated in a comfortable French country style; they all have views overlooking the garden. Three bedrooms have a double-bed and the fourth has twin-beds that can be fixed together to make a double. There is ample space for a cot for a baby. All the rooms have wardrobe space and drawers.
  • Bathroom: The ground floor has two bathrooms one in the main house consisting of a shower cubicle, toilet and sink, plus in the summer extension there is a shower and wash-basin, with a separate WC. Upstairs there is a bathroom with a shower cubicle, wash-basin, bidet and a separate WC.
  • Summer Extension: An excellent addition close to the pool is a fully equipped summer kitchen with oven and a fridge, a bathroom and separate WC.
  • Outside: The well-kept garden has ample space for the children to play, while you rest in the hammock and relax. Pots of aromatic flowers give a colourful touch, plus there is a fabulous view over the Luberon. There are three possibilities for al-fresco eating; a raised patio overlooking the garden, under the shade of the oak trees and finally a covered terrace attached to the outside kitchen - the choice is yours!
  • Swimming pool: The 10m by 5m private pool is secured by a fine-looking stone wall and is heated from April onwards if necessary.
  • Internet: Yes, there is WiFi access to the internet available
  • Telephone: Yes, available in case of emergencies
  • Baby facilities: Yes, high-chair and cot are all provided
  • Winter heating:.The house is available April to Oct, if you need Winter heating there may be a small charge.
  • Gas, electric, & water: all included in the rental cost.
  • End-of-stay cleaning. Yes, this has been included here in the rental cost
  • Bed & bathroom linen: Yes, all included.
  • Damage deposit: The owner asks for a deposit of 750 euros upon arrival.  This will be refunded to you at the end of your holiday, less the cost of any dammage or breakages.
  • Taxe de Sejour: in France, it is necessary to pay a “Taxe de Séjour” at the end of your stay. It has been included here in the rental cost.
  • Change-over day. Change over day is normally Saturday but the property owners are willing to be flexible so please ask.
  • Long weekend stays: Not possible at this property – sorry.

  • By Car – Directions by car from the A6/A7 motorway
  • By Air –  Marseilles, Avignon and Nimes airports all within 1 hour or 1½ hours 
  • By Train - The high speed TGV service runs directly from London or Paris to Avignon or Aix en Provence and Marseilles.
