General Description
- This spacious studio apartment is just one of four immaculately presented apartments, in a perfectly tranquil setting, high up in the hills to the west of Nice. It has superb, panoramic views to the mountains and the sea.
- There are also 3 other individual studio apartments here in this beautiful location so if you are going as a group, ask us for details and availability of this collection.
- “Gîtes des Chênes“ are set amongst 3.5 hectares, made up of landscaped gardens, with lawns, fragrant borders and ancient oak trees and an olive plantation producing olive oil and salted olives.
- The studio apartments were designed and built respecting the original French “restanques” (stone terraced agricultural land) which can still be seen in the area today.
- Each of the apartments is tastefully furnished for 2 people, with a spacious living/bedroom, a separate kitchen, and bathroom. They all also come with their own furnished terrace and a separate garden area.
- During the summertime the apartments have the use of a good-sized swimming pool, with sun-loungers and a barbeque – a perfect place to relax, read a book and take in the fantastic views.
- All have parking within the grounds; one car per apartment and visitors parking may be arranged.
The Local Area
- “Gites des Chênes” are situated very close to the X11 Century, cliff top village of Carros, with its little pedestrian streets, immaculately kept houses, gift shop and restaurant. From here, you’ll get sweeping views down the Var River valley to the sea.
- There are further shops, restaurants, boulangeries and a supermarket in the town of Gattieres, approximately 5km away.
- Other surrounding towns to visit are Vence (15km), St Paul de Vence (20km), Nice (25km), and Cannes (38km).
- There are local markets held in Nice, Vence and over the Italian border in Ventimillia.
- There are many sporting activities in the area – golf, tennis, sailing, river bathing, kayaking, climbing, and fishing to name just a few.
- With its close proximity to the surrounding, hilly countryside, this makes the apartment an ideal base for those who enjoy the outdoors, walking and cycling. The region is also well served by ski-stations in the winter, some of which can be reached within an hours drive.
- Other attractions in the region are the Carnival of Nice, The Cannes Film Festival, The Monaco Grand Prix, the International Jazz Festival of Nice, The Classical Sailing Boats race of Cannes & Antibes, the summer open-air Opera Festival of Gattieres and Marineland in Antibes.
- The apartments are also within easy reach of Nice International Airport and all that the Cote d’Azur has to offer.
Facilities
- This spacious studio apartment comprises of a large living room/bedroom with 2 single beds (which can be made into a double), a dining table and chairs for two, and wardrobes.
- There are French doors opening out onto the gites own private garden with 2 sun loungers. There is also a small covered terrace with table and chairs for outside dining. On the other side of the gite there is a door leading to a back garden area, which has a small table and chairs under the oak trees. This gite is on the highest level and has the most privacy.
- There is a small, but very well equipped kitchen with oven, microwave, fridge, kettle and small freezer. There are also shared washing machine and drying facilities in a utility room.
- A fully tiled bathroom comes with a shower over bath, WC and hand basin.
- Outside, you can lose yourself in the beautiful gardens and there is a swimming pool of 12 x 6 metres, plus a children’s pool of 3.6 x 2metres.
- For the sporty ones amongst us, you can enjoy table tennis and boules on site (and badminton subject to availability), and for the exhausted ones the owners offer a small library of books to read!
- There are 2 bicycles available to rent subject to availability, one mans and one ladies. They are the road bike type and are available for 12 euros per day.
- Most who stay here, come to enjoy the peace & quiet and the great outdoors, however a television (French) is available upon request!
- The owners at “Gites des Chênes” live on site; they are very hospitable and will make you feel very welcome.
- Wi-Fi internet connection is available inside this apartment.
- Gas and electricity is included in the rental price.
- If you are going from October to March heating is included in the rental price, however should you require heating during any other months, this is at an additional cost of 45.50 Euros per week (or 6.50 a day).
- An end-of-stay cleaning charge of 40 Euros is payable directly to the owner.
- In
- Taxe de Séjour: it is necessary to pay this at the end of your stay. For this property it is 0.65 Euros per person, per night, and is payable directly to the owner
- The owners request a damage deposit of 200 Euros on arrival and this will be refunded to you at the end of your stay, less the replacement cost of any breakages.
- Pets are permitted at this apartment upon request, for a supplement of 25 euros; they are not permitted however around the pool area.
- A baby-cot and a high chair are available upon request.
- Long weekend stays are available upon request.
How To Get There
- By Car – Carros Village lies in the hills to the west of Nice and can be easily accessed from the A8 Auto route and the N202.
- By Air – Nice-Cote d’Azur is the nearest international airport, approximately 21 kilometres away. A car is a necessity for this location.
- By Train – Eurostar runs from London to Paris city centres and then the high speed TGV service runs from Paris to Nice.
