General Description

  • Like many traditional farming families in Provence this family have 'diversified' and created 2 wonderful gites for holidaymakers to enjoy, in the heart of Provence. As a bonus, they continue to farm and like to offer their guests fresh vegetables and eggs!
  • Gite St Yves has a ground floor double bedroom and bathroom, a spacious living/kitchen area and a private terrace. It's perfect for 2 people and is set over 35 metres squared.
  • The inside is open plan, cool, light and clean, but the most stunning thing about this Gite is the location. You'll probably spend most of your time outside on the private terrace, shaded by the hundred year old 'platane tree'. Your view is out towards the large garden, 12 x 6m swimming pool, and olive trees, vines and fruit trees beyond
  • This is the place for you if you're looking for calm and tranquillity. A rural track, just 20 metres from your gite, gives you access to the stunning countryside around.
  • Having said this, don't worry about feeling isolated. You're only a 5 minute drives from the well know, prestigious town of Saint Remy de Provence and 20 minutes from Avignon.

The Local Area

  •  One big advantage of this gite is that the owners live in the adjacent farmhouse. They have lived and farmed the surrounding land for many generations, and not only offer you a very warm welcome, but also a wealth of knowledge about the local area and the Provencal way of life.
  • The gite is perfectly located for exploring the best of Provence. You are just 5 minutes from Saint Remy de Provence, famous for its Roman architecture and stylish shops, 10 minutes from Les Baux, with its ruined castle and unique rock formations and 20 minutes from the city of Avignon.
  • The local lanscape is dominated by olive groves and vineyards, and many of the local villages offer tours of the 'olive press' mills - a good option if you need to escape the Provencal sunshine for a while!
  • If you like to explore the local Provencal markets, you’ll be spoilt for choice! There are some excellent Paysan Markets where you will find local produce, grown and sold by some real characters!
  • With good restaurants in abundance in this area, it’s not difficult to spoil yourself – holidays aren’t for dieting!
  • The Alpilles hills are just a few minutes away so the area is popular with sports and countryside lovers. There are some fantastic walks, cycle routes and mountain bike tracks close by and the area is well know for rock climbing. If you've got the energy you can also try horse riding, golf and canoeing.
  • The sea is under an hour away, with the beautiful Callanques of Marseille to explore as well as any number of the local fishing ports you can find on the coast.

Facilities

  • Living area: Like the rest of the gite, the living room is tastefully and simply decorated.  With a high-beamed ceiling, the living area has a light and airy feel.  As well as dining facilities for two people, the open plan space contains a sofa, TV, radio and a CD player.
  • Kitchen: In the well-equipped kitchen, there's a fridge, oven, microwave and all the utensils and crockery you need for two people.
  • Bedrooms: The bedroom is located on the ground floor, and contains a comfortable double bed, along with wardrobe space.
  • Bathrooms: The good-sized bathroom contains a shower and WC. A baby bath is also available on request.
  • Outside:  Outdoors, there’s lots to do.  Within the well-kept, large, garden, facilities can be found for volleyball, badminton and boules.  Alternatively, you can just relax on the shaded terrace using the supplied garden furniture. There’s also plenty of car parking space, accessed via security-coded, large electric gates.
  • Swimming pool: There is a fenced and alarmed swimming pool available, (12m x 6m), the use of which is shared with the other gite next door.  Loungers are provided if you’d prefer just to catch some sun next to the pool!
  • Baby facilities: Cots and high chairs are available on request – just let us know what you need when you book.
  • Winter heating: Winter heating is included in the rental cost.
  • Gas, electric, & water: These are all included in the rental cost.
  • End-of-stay cleaning: The owners request that the accommodation is left as clean and tidy as when you arrive.  Alternatively, they are happy to arrange an end of stay final cleaning for a charge of 35 euros.
  • Bed & bathroom linen: All bed and bathroom is included in the rental cost.
  • Taxe de Sejour: In France, it is necessary to pay a “Taxe de Séjour” at the end of your stay. It has been included here in the rental cost.
  • Damage deposit: The owner requests a damage deposit of 400 Euros on arrival and this will be refunded to you at the end of your stay, less the replacement cost of any breakages.
  • Change over day: The change over day is Saturday during the high season, although during the low season flexibility is possible
  • Long weekend stays: These are not usually permitted during the high season, although flexibility is possible during the low season.
  • Pets: Unfortunately, pets are not accepted at this property
