General Description

  • It’s often hard to find a small gite that offers peace and tranquillity, away from all the crowds, yet Gite St Rose provides the perfect spot to relax, unwind and enjoy the slow pace of life in Provence.
  • The gite is adjacent to the owner’s house on a large piece of private land, just 3km from the villages of Aureille and Mouries.  This location gives you a true feeling of life in rural France yet offers the convenience of the village shops, cafes, restaurants and weekly markets just a short distance away.
  • Gite St Rose has a private entrance, independent to the owner’s house and is very well equipped. It’s perfect for 2 people as there’s a double bed, an interior dining area and a separate bathroom.  The gite was renovated and decorated in 2011 so all the fittings and fixtures are of a high standard and brand new.
  • The kitchen is a little unusual as it’s outdoor, but this works very well in sunny Provence! It’s well-equipped and under full cover and overlooks the pool and beautiful garden!  It has a dining table and chairs, perfect for eating alfresco.
  • You are very welcome to use and enjoy the mature garden and large pool. Access to this is shared with the owners, but as busy locals they tend not to swim very often!

The Local Area

  • Gite St Rose is a rural property situated 3km from both Aureille and Mouries.  Aureille is a sleepy little village with 2 restaurants, a café, a boulangerie, and a general store. Mouries is a little bigger and bustling, by Provencal standards (!), on market day. You are also just a short distance from the popular village of Eygalieres and the stylish town of St Remy de Provence.  You really will be spoilt for choice if you intend to spend a few hours sipping good coffee and people watching.
  • If activity is your thing, there's lots to keep you busy; explore the footpaths and cycle routes criss-crossing this spectacular limestone scenery, there's horse riding, immaculate Golf courses and some of the best climbing areas in France (Orgon, Mauries, Fontveille and Aureille).
  • If its culture you're after, don’t miss Saint Remy de Provence for its Roman architecture and the fortified hill top village of Les Baux de Provence (the 2nd most visited site in France). For those people interested in nature, the Carmargue National Park, famous for white horses and miles of wild-bird inhabited marshland (including flamingos!) is less than an hour away.
  • Also within easy reach are the winding roads of the Luberon, with spectacular views and picturesque villages (Gordes, Menerbes, Maubec). You could enjoy a trip to L'Isle sur la Sorgue, famous as an antique centre and market, or Avignon with the Palace of the Popes.
  • Locally there is a huge choice of markets selling fresh breads, vegetables, cheese and herbs, all within a short drive.

Facilities

  • Studio room: An open plan room with a double sofa-bed (high quality and comfortable), ideal for 2 people. There’s a TV and corner dining area with table and chairs.
  • Outdoor Kitchen: What a good idea! Enjoy the view as you prepare and cook the delicious local produce you bought at the market earlier in the day.  This fully covered area contains a sink, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave, washing machine, and large BBQ.  There’s also a shady terrace for eating al fresco and enjoying the view of the garden and pool.
  • Bathroom: The en-suite bathroom has a shower, sink and toilet.
  • Outside:  A large, mature garden, dotted with olive trees creates a calm and tranquil holiday haven.
  • Swimming pool: The 12m by 5m pool is just on the doorstep and surrounded by decking. Although this facility is officially shared with the owners, they are busy people who will respect your privacy and tend not to swim very often.
