General Description

  • Gite St Jean is situated on the edge of a small hamlet where the pace of life is ideal for those who want to relax and soak up the ambience of Provence, as well as the sunshine.
  • The two double, or twin, bedroom Gite, each with its own en-suite, will ensure privacy and comfort.
  • Your host, who lives next door, has a wealth of knowledge about the region that he will share with you and because he is a Chef he will even prepare some meals too!
  • This is a perfect base for those who like to venture out and discover Provence, whatever time of the year, there is always something of interest going on.                    
  • You are also invited to reap the vegetables and fruits from the garden.

The Local Area

  • St Jean de Crieulon is a small peaceful hamlet not far from the busy and historical towns of Nimes, Arles and Avignon. .
  • For those who enjoy a more active holiday why not hire a bike and take to the quiet roads where you can take in all the magnificent views and scents of the land. Horse riding tours are also available on your doorstep. Within 1½ hours, from December to March, you can be 1500 metres high and amongst the snow!  There are two ski lifts.
  • Sightseeing You are just minutes away from Anduze and the gateway to the Parc Nationale des Cévennes where you can walk, or visit the famous Bambouseraie (Bamboo Garden).
  • If you would like to dabble in a little painting, a tutor can be arranged or perhaps a tour of the vineyards for some wine tasting is more to your palate!
  • The weekly morning Market in Gange on Friday is a large affair where you can buy lots of fresh, locally grown produce, flowers, chesses and wines. There are also daily markets in Anduze on Thursday mornings and Tuesday evenings and Quissac on Wednesday mornings.
  • There are large Supermarkets in Quissac which is 7kms and Anduze which is 12 kms away. Your fresh bread is delivered to you daily (except Wednesdays) by request.
  • If you want to take a break from the cooking just chat with your host and he will delight you with a menu.

Facilities

  • Living Room and Kitchen: This spacious and open plan area is ideal for four people. The kitchen, located at one end, is large and fully equipped with fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, oven and hob.  There is a pretty wrought iron table and 4 chairs for indoor eating.  In the seating area there are two comfy chairs and a large sofa, where you can relax and enjoy the International TV and DVD player.
  • Bedrooms: There are two identical bedrooms which can be made up as doubles or singles. They each have lots of space in the wardrobe and have bedside tables. The bedroom doors both lead out on to the covered terrace overlooking the pool.
  • Bathroom: Each of the bedrooms has its own large and modern en-suite, with a shower, hand basin and toilet.
  • Parking: There is private and secure parking on the property.
  • Swimming Pool. The private 10x5 metre pool is surrounded by plants and mature shrubs and has outstanding views towards the village across the owner’s vineyard. There are plenty of spots to relax in and out of the sunshine.
  • Outside: The terrace, with its table and chairs is perfect for alfresco dining. Around the pool area there is table tennis, a barbeque and a large grassed area where you can practice your golf.
  • Internet: Connection is available for your laptop via Wi-Fi.
  • Telephone: There is no telephone available.
  • Baby facilities: There is a cot and high chair available.
  • Bed and bathroom linens: These are included in the rental cost but please bring your own pool towels.
  • Winter heating: There is a small charge for heating during the cooler months of the year.
  • Gas, electric and water: Is included in the rental cost.
  • End-of-stay cleaning: Is included in the rental cost.
  • Damage deposit: The owner requests a damage deposit of 150 Euros payable on arrival. This will be refunded to you, less the replacement cost of any breakages.
  • Change over day: is normally Saturday, but please enquire.
  • Weekend Break: Take advantage of the catered weekend break, for 165 euros per person (min 4 people), where you can enjoy evening meals on Friday and Saturday and breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings. These are outside of the peak season.
  • Speciality of the Host: The owner, who lives next door, loves to cook and will delight you with his great BBQs and Pizza’s, and where he will share his wealth of knowledge about Provence with you.
  • Pets: are permitted here, please ask when you book.
  • Smoking: is not permitted inside this property - sorry

How To Get There

  • By Car –  A car is necessary at this location if you want to tour the region. The nearest Autoroute travelling from the north or south is the A9 then you are just 30 mins from the Autoroute.
  • By Air - The nearest international airports to this property are Nines, Montpellier and Avignon. Transfers can be arranged with the owner on request.
  • By Train - The Eurostar/TGV high speed train runs from London to Avignon and Nimes.
