General Description
- Ideal for either a holiday or a business trip, this '3-star' apartment sleeping 2 to 4 people is at the Les Consuls de Mer Residence in the Port Marianne district of Montpellier.
- The apartment is well located for visiting this lovely, vibrant city (10 minutes away by tram) and also the Mediterranean beaches, the mountains of the Haut Languedoc National Park, Beziers, the Canal du Midi, Sete, the Camargue and the lovely medieval town of Pezenas.
- This apartment of around 33 sq.m. is well designed and has a living room with a double sofa bed and a separate bedroom with a double bed. Patio doors open onto a balcony. There is a bathroom, some with a separate WC, and a well-equipped kitchenette with microwave and dishwasher, a satellite TV (mainly French channels), free WiFi and a telephone.
- For relaxing there is a rooftop swimming pool and terrace with sunloungers for enjoying the Mediterranean sunshine. A sauna and whirlpool are also provided for which there is a small additional charge, payable at the reception.
- One of the benefits of staying here is that you have the choice to self-cater if you wish or you can enjoy the well-priced restaurant on the ground floor or the cafe-bars and restaurants in Montpellier.
- Underground parking is generally available here for a reasonable additional charge.
The Local Area
- It's just a 10-minute tram ride from the 'tram stop' outside the apartments into the lovely, vibrant city of Montpellier - currently THE place to visit in France. You'll find a wide variety of shops, supermarkets, banks, pharmacies, restaurants and bars not to mention museums, art galleries etc. Montpellier not only has a historic town centre but also a new area called Antigone, designed by the Catalan architect, Ricardo Boffil.
- With the attractive old and new architecture, fountains, water features, open spaces, lots of good shopping, fantastic restaurants and bars and nightlife if you want it, Montpellier is well worth a visit. AND to find a public transport system which works well is really great!
- Notable sights in Montpellier are La Place de la Comedie (the focal point of the 'old' city), the excellent Musee Fabre (museum), the 14th century cathedral of Saint Pierre, the Port of Peyrou - a historical triumphal arch, the Aqueduc Saint Clement and the various chateaux and follies which surround the city, built in the past by wealthy merchants.
- In the other direction towads the coast, and also by tram, is Montpellier's new out-of-town shopping 'Odysseum' together with the new Aquarium Mare Nostra. The Mediterranean beach resorts (soon to be linked by tram, but accessible currently by bus or car) are just a short drive away - Palavas les Flots, Carnon-Plage and La Grande Motte. As well as enjoying the beach, the sunshine and swimming, you'll find lots of water sports here.
- Markets: Mornings in the Halles Paillade on avenue de Heidelberg - food and clothes market (covered).
- Restaurants: There's a very wide variety of restaurants and cafe-bars in Montpellier to suit every taste and budget. One of our favourites is directly outside the Musse de Fabre.
- Supermarkets: You'll find the larger supermarkets on the outskirts of the city e.g. at Odysseum.
Facilities
- Living Room: Modern and well-designed, this has a convertible sofa bed which makes a large double bed 160cm x 200cm sleeping 2 people. There is a flat screen satellite TV receiving mainly French channels, free WIFI via your own laptop, and a telephone (calls are chargeable). A patio door opens out onto a balcony.
- Kitchenette: Well equipped with a 2-ring hob, microwave, fridge and dishwasher.
- Bedroom: There is one bedroom with a double bed, storage and hanging.
- Bathroom: With heated towel rail, and hairdryer. The WC may be separate.
- Additional Accommodation: Subject to availability there are other apartments here sleeping from 1 to 6 people - please enquire for price and availability.
- Swimming Pool: There is a roof top swimming pool (shared) and sun terrace for the use of guests. The pool is seasonal and usually open in May and closes in September according to the weather. There are also sauna and spa facilities available for a small extra charge, payable at the Reception.
- Car Parking: There is a covered underground car park which available for guests to use at 5 euros per day or 25 euros per week, payable at the Reception.
- Internet: All apartments have free WiFi acces via your own laptop.
- Telephone: There is a telephone in the apartment - call charges apply and are payable at the Reception.
- Baby Faciliities: A cot and a high chair are available free of charge provided you request them when booking.
- Winter Heating and Air-conditioning in Summer: Is included in the rental price.
- Electric and Water: Are included in the rental price.
- Cleaning: The end of stay cleaning is NOT included in the rental price and the apartment must be left cleaned upon departure. If you do not wish to do the cleaning yourselves, you can arrange for it to be done at the Reception - guide price 30 - 40 euros. Additionally a cleaning kit is available at the Reception priced at 6 euros.
- Bedroom and bathroon linen: One set of bedroom and bathroom linen are included in the rental price - beds will be made up ready for you.
- Taxe de Sejour: In France it is necessary to pay a Taxe de Sejour at the end of your stay. It is not included in the rental price here and is payable at the guide rate of 1 euro per person per day. It is payable at the Reception.
- Damage Deposit: The company requests a damage/security deposit of 260 euros on arrvial by credit card. This will be refunded to you shortly after the end of your stay less the replacement cost of any breakages.
- Change Over Day: Is flexible subject to availability.
- Mini Breaks and longer term stays: Are possible subject to availability - please enquire for the price.
- Pets: are permitted - however there is a supplementary cost of 5 euros per day, payable at the Reception.
How To Get There
· By Car - The Consuls de Mer Apartments are easily found from the A9 autoroute from the Montpellier East and Montpellier South exits. Private underground car-parking is available for a daily or weekly charge.
· By Air - Montpellier airport is the nearest (10-15 mins drive). There is public transport from the airport to the city centre. Montpellier airport is serviced by Ryanair and EasyJet from the UK. Other airports you can use are Nimes, Beziers, Perpignan, Carcassonne, Toulouse and Girona (Spain).
· By Train - The high speed TGV service runs directly to Montpellier.
