General Description

  • Located in the heart of one of Frances most cultural as well as beautiful cities, this delightful apartment is on the third floor of a typical gracious mansion, that stands in one of the most elegant streets of Aix Modernised, and comfortable, yet keeping all the warmth of the traditional Provencal features

  •  It is only one street away from the Cours Mirabeau, so with just one step outside the door you can be in the centre of Aix en Provence, walking down fashionable avenues with the city’s famed fountains.

  • Tastefully decorated in yellows and ochre, on entering the apartment there is an open plan living area, with a fully equipped kitchen, including bar and iron stools, and a comfy living area designed purely for your relaxation and a dining area fitted for four.  There’s also one bedroom, equipped with a comfortable queen-sized bed.

The Local Area

  • Aix en Provence is known as the city of water and art. The cities thermal baths have always been an attraction since Roman times, and 40 fountains can be found within the city’s limits

  • Walk in the footsteps of Cezanne, who was born here, and visit the numerous sites associated with the great artist. Museums and galleries are situated within walking distance – the apartment is next to the picturesque Place d’Albertas, and a few steps from the Natural History Museum.

  • Being in such a central location, you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to food!  The restaurants offer menus with the mouth-watering cuisine of the region - whatever your style, the choice is yours.

  • There are an abundance of Local shops and markets are nearby, so it’s easy to cook using the local produce.  Alternatively, you can just browse the many fashionable shops in Aix en Provence!

  • Not far is the splendid Mont Victoire a favourite painting subject for Cezanne, even Picasso is buried in one of the villages on its slopes. Here you will find opportunities for walking, plus on the top there are fine views of the Alps.  The area provides challenges for all levels of cyclist, climber and hiker, should you feel particularly active.

Facilities

  • Living room: The living area is designed for comfort, containing a dark brown leather sofa and two soft buttercup coloured upholstered chairs, a fireplace, flat panel TV, CD player, and a large selection of English language books.  There’s also a dining area with seating for four.  From the window, you can watch the bustle of the Provencal streets.
  • Kitchen: The fully fitted kitchen is equipped with a washer and dryer, microwave, coffee maker oven and cook top stove, as well as plenty of top quality Cusinart storage.  There’s also a bar and wrought iron stools – perfect for reading the morning newspaper and planning your day!
  • Bedrooms: There is a single bedroom, equipped with wrought iron queen sized bed, with cotton sheets and high quality duvets. Plenty of storage in the form of wardrobes and shelving is provided.
  • Bathrooms: The fully renovated bathroom features a shower, halogen lighting and hairdryer.
  • Outside: Being a city-centre apartment, there is no garden or pool.  However, the greenery and cultured avenues of Aix-en-Provence more than make up for this!
  • Internet: Should you want to keep in touch with home, there is a Wi-Fi internet connection available.
  • Telephone: There is a telephone connection available, (restricted service).
  • Baby facilities: This property is not suitable for young children.
  • Winter heating: If you visit during the winter months, central heating is available for a surcharge of 25 Euros per week.
  • Gas, electric, & water: These are all included in the rental cost
  • End-of-stay cleaning: The end-of-stay cleaning is arranged by the owner, and is included in the cost of your holiday.
  • Bed & bathroom linen: This is all included in the rental cost.
  • Taxe de Sejour: In France, it is necessary to pay a “Taxe de Séjour” at the end of your stay. It has been included here in the rental cost.
  • Damage deposit: The owner requests a damage deposit of 400 Euros on arrival and this will be refunded to you at the end of your stay, less the replacement cost of any breakages.
  • Change over day: Saturday during the high season, although flexibility is possible during quieter months.
  • Long weekend stays: Unfortunately, these aren’t possible at this property.
  • Pets: Pets are not permitted here – sorry.
  • Smoking: Smoking is not permitted inside this property – sorry.

How To Get There

  • By Car – Aix-en-Provence lies off the A8 autoroute, about 20 minutes from Marseille.

  • By Air - Marseille Airport  - approximately 25 minutes drive away, by car, taxi, or transfer bus

  • By Train - The Aix-en-Provence TGV station provides new access to the TGV in the Aix area – making it possible to catch a train from London or Paris.
