General Description
- This spacious, attractive and welcoming apartment is on the 3rd floor of an authentic village house. It sleeps 2 people, and is fully renovated and tastefully decorated and furnished, with original beams to the ceiling.
- The most wonderful feature is the way the double bedroom leads onto a spacious roof terrace with lovely views over the beautiful countryside. You can imagine sitting out there with a cool drink on a balmy evening watching the twinkling stars appear as night begins to fall.
- The apartment is open plan and comprises a sitting/dining area, a fully fitted kitchen, a shower room, a bedroom area with a double bed that leads out onto the spacious roof terrace.
- The lovely village of St Genies de Fontedit is approximately a 30 minute drive from Beziers, and is close to some of the most excellent beaches in France. If you enjoy sightseeing, walking, cycling, rock climbing, pretty unspoiled villages and fantastic scenery, then this comfortable holiday home is sure to please.
The Local Area
- St Genies de Fontedit lies on the border of two great wine terroirs 'St Chinian' and 'Fougeres' and is surrounded by lush vineyards. You can sit and watch the world go by in the cafe or take a stroll around this unspoilt village to admire the lovely church and the very unusual frog fountain. With a butchers, a bakers and a grocery shop to hand you don't have to go too far to do a little shopping.
- Sports Facilities: St Geniès de Fontedit is approximately a 25-minute drive from the sunny Mediterranean beaches where you will find safe swimming, sunbathing, and a wide variety of watersports. The Canal du Midi just a short drive away offers endless opportunities for walking, cycling and boat trips. The local area has many marked footpaths and also some challenging cycling if that is your sport - bike hire can be organised for you, please enquire. Further inland, the mountains and the gorges provide a great location for white water sports such as canoe-kayaking, and for golfers there's an excellent golf course near Beziers.
- Sightseeeing: A week would simply not be long enough to visit all the attractions around here: St Guilhem le Desert, the High Languedoc National Park, the Montagnes Noires, Beziers, Narbonne, Montpellier and the coastal resorts of Cap d'Agde, Sete with its famous water-jousting contests, and Gruissan. A day trip to Spain is also possible with the border being less than 2 hours drive away.
- Markets: The local markets are colourful, interesting and full of fresh, local, seasonal produce for you to take home and cook. They are a real social occasion too. There are markets in Cessonon sur Orb on a Saturday morning - St Chinian has a very good market too on a Sunday morning. Friday is the day for Bezier's fantastic flower and fresh fruit and vegetable market in the town square. There are also markets in Roquebrun and Murviel.
- Restaurants: There's a wide variety of restaurants to suit all budgets and tastes in the local area and in Beziers. However should you not wish to drive, you can enjoy a home-cooked four course evening meal prepared by the owners on request.
- Supermarkets: There are two supermarkets about a 5-minutes drive away.
Facilities
- Living/Dining Room: Attractive, comfortable sitting room with two sofas, a TV receiving French channels,a DVD player and a library of DVDs and books for you to enjoy. There is a dining table and four chairs.
- Kitchen: The kitchen is fully fitted with a hob, a small oven, fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, iron and ironing board. Use of the owners' washing machine on the ground floor is possible.
- Bedroom: A lovely double bedroom, tastefully decorated and with quality bed linen - leading out to a superb roof terrace with lovely views.
- Shower room: An attractive shower room with washbasin and WC.
- Additional Acommodation: A further double en-suite bedroom is available on the same floor as this apartment, providing additional accommodation for 2 people - please see Apartment Lisette 2.
- Outside: There are several car parking spaces in the village just a short distance away. You can drop luggage off immediately outside the property.
- Internet: You can access the internet here via your own laptop and a WiFi connection - there's no charge.
- Telephone: Sorry - there is no telephone here.
- Suitability Note: As the apartment is on the 3rd floor it may not be suitable for the elderly or infirm.
- Breakfast, lunch and dinner facility: The other rooms on the lower floors in the house form part of the owners' small chambre d'hotes. Therefore it's possible for guests staying in the apartment to have a continental breakfast on request. Lunch or a picnic lunch is also available as is a home-cooked dinner using fresh ingredients. - End of stay cleaning: Is included in the rental price.

How To Get There
- By Car: The village is just to the West of the D909 north of Beziers. The nearest autoroute junction is No: 35 on the A9.
- By Air: The nearest airport is Beziers approx 30 mins drive, serviced by Ryanair from the UK (www.ryanair.com). Other airports within an easy drive are Montpellier (Ryanair and EasyJet) and Carcassonne (Ryanair). A little further away but still within within a 90-minute drive: Nimes (Ryanair) and Perpignan (bmi baby, Flybe, Ryanair and bmi).
