General Description

 

  • This magnificent, one bedroom apartment is located on the 4th floor (with lift) of a lovely old 'bourgeois' building on the seafront. With splendid views over the port and sea it makes a great base from which to explore the area & town of Nice.

  • Approximately 110 sq metres in size, with all of the rooms facing the sea, the apartment has wonderful high ceilings and has been classically furnished. It comprises of a grand hallway, very spacious living room, dining room, modern independent kitchen, one large bedroom, one bathroom and a sunny balcony overlooking the port.

  • It’s in a super location on the south-eastern corner of the port, and within easy walking of the many restaurants, cafes, shops, town centre, old town and beaches of Nice. It is also ideally placed to visit the neighbouring villages of Villefranche & Beaulie-sur-Mer and also Cap Ferrat and Monaco.

  • It has a maximum occupancy of 2 to 3 people and would be perfect for a couple or few friends looking for lots of space and opulent decor. Please note: this apartment is not suitable for children of a very young age – please enquire.

The Local Area

 

  • Local shops, boulangeries, supermarkets and restaurants can all be found in abundance on your doorstep! You have a great selection of restaurants to choose from, all around the port area and in the nearby 'old town’ of Nice. There is also a great choice of shopping in the department stores, designer shops and gift shops of Nice.

  • Local markets are held in Nice and Villefranche. The most well known is held in the ‘Cours Saleya’ in Nice, adjacent to the old town and offers an array of olives, flowers and fresh produce. There is also a super antiques market held here on a Monday.

  • Sporting activities in the area are abundant– there is sailing, diving, fishing, water sports, jogging, rollerblading along the Promenade des Anglais and of course the beaches. You are also in very close proximity to the mountains and hills of the Alpes Maritimes region here, which makes walking and cycling very popular.

  • Beaches can be found just 100 metres away at the ‘Plage Nautique’ and also right along the promenade of Nice. From here you can enjoy the sunshine glittering on the azure blue waters of the Med and watch the many boats crossing the ‘Baie des Anges’.

  • The ski stations of Valberg, Isola 2000 and Auron are approximately 1 hour’s drive away if you fancy a couple of days winter sports!

  • Getting around is very easy from here. There are many bus and train services, which have a great network along the coast and further inland - the nearest bus stop to this apartment is 20 metres away. A car is really not necessary here.

  • Sightseeing is endless; there is the historical old town of Nice; the restaurants and yachts in the port of Nice; a stroll along the Promenade des Anglais; the views from the Chateau of Nice; the Museums of Art in Nice; the animals & plants at Parc Phoenix; the charming Mediterranean towns of Villefranche-sur-Mer and Beaulieu-sur-Mer; the zoo and coastal walk around Cap-Ferrat; the perched village at Eze; the casinos and port of Monaco; and the Italian border town of Menton. It is also possible to cross over the border to experience the flavour of Italy!

  • Other entertainment includes shopping, the casinos & nightlife of Nice, boat trips, cinemas, wine tasting, helicopter rides, or just good old relaxing on the beach!

Facilities

 

  • Living room: accessed via an impressively large entrance hall featuring fireplace; classically furnished with comfortable sofa, elegant armchairs, large flat-screen TV (international), DVD player & excellent quality Hi-Fi (there's also an extensive library of CD’s, DVDs and books made available). Lots of interesting art and ornaments and in one corner a grand piano! French doors open up to balcony with views over the port and sea.

  • Dining area: adjacent to living room, furnished with table & four chairs; also single bed with additional bed underneath (raises to make double) for further sleeping.

  • Kitchen: accessed from hallway, very contemporary and well-equipped with huge stainless steel cooker (gas), additional smaller oven, large fridge, freezer, great wine fridge, dishwasher, washing machine, toaster, coffee machine, iron & ironing board. Table & chairs set in front of large window where you can take in the sea views - ideal for breakfast!

  • Bedrooms: one good-sized bedroom with majestic king-size bed (180cm wide), antique cupboard and other fine furniture. Further clothes storage can be found along the hallway. Lovely windows open up to enjoy views over the port from your bed! Additional sleeping for one person in the dining room.

  • Bathrooms: one large, very stylish bathroom located off the hall, recently appointed with ‘claw foot’ bath, large shower enclosure, twin washbasins set in marble and WC. Creatively decorated with mural and chandelier light fittings. Hairdryer available.

  • Additional accommodation: if going as a larger group, please ask for details of apartment next door in this same building.

  • Outside: small south-facing balcony from living room, furnished with low table and 2 chairs – from here you can sit and sunbathe and watch the world go by! Private parking space available for this apartment in a nearby residence.

  • Swimming pool: not available here, but the sea’s just 100 metres away!

  • Internet: Wi-Fi available for your laptop.

  • Telephone: not available, but possible to make calls through Wi-Fi and your laptop.

  • Baby facilities: not available here.

  • Damage deposit: owner requests a damage deposit of 500 Euros on arrival. Refunded to you at the end of your stay, less the replacement cost of any breakages.

  • Bed & bathroom linen: bed linen is included for the double bed and towels for two people. Additional may be rented from the owner – please ask for details.

  • Gas, electric & water: all included in rental.

  • Winter heating: by central heating radiators, included in rental.

  • End-of-stay cleaning: priced separately, so that if you are staying more than 1 week you are not paying in duplicate. 50 Euros and paid directly to the owner.

  • Taxe de Séjour: in France it’s sometimes necessary to pay this. This property is 1.00 Euro per person (over 12), per night, payable directly to the owner.

  • Change over day: normally Saturday, however owners may be flexible out of peak season.

  • Long weekend stays: possible here with minimum 4 night stay.

  • Pets: not accepted here – sorry.

  • Smoking: not permitted inside this property (balcony OK).

  • Supplementary services: we may be able to arrange the following services for you as a supplement: Daily cleaner, Chef.

How To Get There

 

  • By Car – from the UK you have the choice of using the ferries or the Eurotunnel for your crossing to France. Once in the South of France, Nice can be easily accessed via the A8 autoroute.

  • By Air – Nice-Cote d’Azur is the nearest international airport – approximately 6 kilometres away. There are daily flights from the UK and worldwide - please see the timetables here www.nice.aeroport.fr. There are regular bus services from the airport into Nice town centre and the apartment is then a 15 minute walk away.

  • By Train – Eurostar runs from London to Paris city centres and then the high speed TGV service runs from Paris to Nice. The nearest train station to this property is Nice Ville.
