General Description

 

  • This very spacious, newly refurbished (2009) two bedroom apartment is located on the 1st floor (with lift) of a lovely old French 'bourgeois' building on the seafront. With splendid views over the port and sea, it makes a great base from which to explore the area and town of Nice.

  • Approximately 104 sq metres in size (front to rear of building) and with air-conditioning, the apartment comprises of a very spacious living/dining room, a superb modern kitchen, two good bedrooms, one large shower room and a balcony at the rear.

  • It’s in a super location on the south-eastern corner of the port, and within easy walking of the many restaurants, cafes, shops, town centre, old town and beaches of Nice. It is also ideally placed to visit the neighbouring villages of Villefranche & Beaulie-sur-Mer and also Cap Ferrat and Monaco.

  • It has a maximum occupancy of 4 people (plus babies) and would be perfect for a small family or group of friends.

The Local Area

 

  • Local shops, boulangeries, supermarkets and restaurants can all be found in abundance on your doorstep! You have a great selection of restaurants to choose from, all around the port area and in the nearby 'old town’ of Nice. There is also a great choice of shopping in the department stores, designer shops and gift shops of Nice.

  • Local markets are held in Nice and Villefranche. The most well known is held in the ‘Cours Saleya’ in Nice, adjacent to the old town and offers an array of olives, flowers and fresh produce. There is also a super antiques market held here on a Monday.

  • Sporting activities in the area are abundant– there is sailing, diving, fishing, water sports, jogging, rollerblading along the Promenade des Anglais and of course the beaches. You are also in very close proximity to the mountains and hills of the Alpes Maritimes region here, which makes walking and cycling very popular.

  • Beaches can be found just 100 metres away at the ‘Plage Nautique’ and also right along the promenade of Nice. From here you can enjoy the sunshine glittering on the azure blue waters of the Med and watch the many boats crossing the ‘Baie des Anges’.

  • The ski stations of Valberg, Isola 2000 and Auron are approximately 1 hour’s drive away if you fancy a couple of days winter sports!

  • Getting around is very easy from here. There are many bus and train services, which have a great network along the coast and further inland - the nearest bus stop to this apartment is 20 metres away. A car is really not necessary here.

  • Sightseeing is endless; there is the historical old town of Nice; the restaurants and yachts in the port of Nice; a stroll along the Promenade des Anglais; the views from the Chateau of Nice; the Museums of Art in Nice; the animals & plants at Parc Phoenix; the charming Mediterranean towns of Villefranche-sur-Mer and Beaulieu-sur-Mer; the zoo and coastal walk around Cap-Ferrat; the perched village at Eze; the casinos and port of Monaco; and the Italian border town of Menton. It is also possible to cross over the border to experience the flavour of Italy!

  • Other entertainment includes shopping, the casinos & nightlife of Nice, boat trips, cinemas, wine tasting, helicopter rides, or just good old relaxing on the beach!

Facilities

 

  • Living room: accessed from the entrance hall and great size. Comfortably furnished with 3 large sofas, with big plasma TV (French) & DVD player. Three sets of windows open up to give views over the port and sea.

  • Dining area: combined within living room, having large table & chairs for 6 people. Also long breakfast-bar with 4 stools.

  • Kitchen: very contemporary and well-equipped with stainless steel oven, electric hob, extractor, microwave, American style fridge/freezer with ice maker, dishwasher, toaster and coffee machine.

  • Utility:  washing machine and dryer located in cupboard at rear of property; iron & ironing board.

  • Bedrooms: two good-sized bedrooms with lovely wood floors and air conditioning units. Master bedroom has double bed (160cm wide), chair, mirrored wardrobes, doors out to balcony, large door sliding open to shower room. Other bedroom has two single beds, fitted wardrobes and doors to balcony.

  • Bathrooms: one large, very stylish shower room plus one independent WC. Shower room accessible from both master bedroom and hall and has large wet-room type shower, double washbasins, heated towel rail & hairdryer. Independent WC adjacent.

  • Additional accommodation: if going as larger group, please ask for details of the other apartments we have in this and adjacent building.

  • Outside: balcony spanning the rear, accessible from both bedrooms. Parking space not provided, but free parking usually found in street below.

  • Swimming pool: not available here, but the sea is just 100 metres away!

  • Internet: Wi-Fi available for your laptop.

  • Telephone: not available, possible to make calls through Wi-Fi and your laptop.

  • Baby facilities: not available here, however we can recommend local rental company.

  • Damage deposit: owner requests a damage deposit of 500 Euros on arrival. Refunded to you at the end of your stay, less the replacement cost of any breakages.

  • Bed & bathroom linen: included in rental.

  • Electric & water: included in rental.

  • Winter heating: by electric reversible heating/cooling units and included in rental.

  • End-of-stay cleaning: priced separately, so that if you are staying for more than 1 week you are not paying in duplicate. 50 Euros and paid directly to the owner.

  • Taxe de Séjour: in France it’s sometimes necessary to pay this. This property is 1.00 Euro per person (over 12), per night, payable directly to the owner.

  • Change over day: normally Saturday, however owners may be flexible upon request.

  • Long weekend stays: not possible here – sorry.

  • Pets: not accepted here – sorry.

  • Smoking: not permitted inside this property (balcony OK).

How To Get There

 

  • By Car – from the UK you have the choice of using the ferries or the Eurotunnel for your crossing to France. Once in the South of France, Nice can be easily accessed via the A8 autoroute.

  • By Air – Nice-Cote d’Azur is the nearest international airport – approximately 6 kilometres away. There are daily flights from the UK and worldwide - please see the timetables here www.nice.aeroport.fr. There are regular bus services from the airport into Nice town centre and the apartment is then a 15 minute walk away.

  • By Train – Eurostar runs from London to Paris city centres and then the high speed TGV service runs from Paris to Nice. The nearest train station to this property is Nice Ville.
