There are many perched hilltop villages steeped in history and while walking through the cobbled and paved streets you can become absorbed in the typical Provençal way of life.
Cycling is a way of life for the French. The enjoyment of the famous tour de France, where you will find streets lined with excited spectators. For those who participate in cycling, you will find the roads in excellent condition and the motorists giving you space!
The Var region of Provence is just a train or plane journey away and you can be sat, sipping your wine within 4 hours of an airport in the UK and be languishing in the warm balmy evenings, listening to the Cigale call and the tiny croaking frogs, as the sun goes down on another perfect day.
Your holiday accommodation is never far from an International airport (Nice, Toulon or Marseille) or the high speed TGV, and you can be at your destination, normally, within one hour of arrival in the South of France.
With so many flavours, colours and seasonal fare, the daily markets are a pleasure to visit. Fill your baskets with locally grown seasonal fresh fruit and vegetables, hand made cheeses, local wines and warm bread to make a sumptuous ‘al fresco’ lunch or dinner.
You cannot help but be seduced by the aromas and flavours of the food and wine in this vast region. Wherever you turn you will wonder at the many varieties of vines just bursting with grapes around harvest time. Provence can boast such a variety of flavours from these grapes, whether, red, white or rose, you will be spoilt for choice.
