Ibiza - La Isla Blanca

IbizaIbiza, also known as the white island, is one of the most famous holiday destinations in the world.  With its 210 km of coastline, crystal clear waters, Mediterranean climate and night life that attracts followers from all over the globe, Ibiza is truly unique.

Beaches and water sports

With over 80 beaches to choose from it can be hard to know where to begin.  One thing they all have in common however, are their unquestionable beauty – from small coves that can only be accessed by boat, to long white sandy beaches with waters that are perfect for swimming.  From the ideal beach for the little ones (Talamanca, Playa den Bossa) to the beaches that are just as stunning for their natural beauty (Salinas, Aguas Blancas), as for the famous people who go there.   It is hardly surprising that water sports are also a major attraction with sailing, scuba diving, sea kayaking and water skiing all available.

Towns and villages

Ibiza town is host to one of the oldest and best preserved medieval towns in Europe and is a world heritage designated site. With its stunning cathedral and fantastic views over the neighbouring island of Formentera, it’s a place not to be missed.  Stroll through the cobbled streets of the old town, visit the fashionable boutiques and stop at any of the numerous bars and cafés to watch the beautiful people pass by.  The regular firework displays over the marina in the summer months are unrivalled!

Further inland there are endless small white villages to choose from, perfect for enjoying some tapas and whiling away a lazy afternoon.  Ibiza has a rich artistic heritage and Santa Gertrudis located in the heart of the island, is the perfect village to visit to see some of the local arts and crafts.  Dominated by its church and town square it is without a doubt a taste of the real Ibiza.

Food and wine

Whether it´s an alfresco table in the hills or a quick snack in a stylish rooftop bar, Ibiza offers some of the most cosmopolitan and sophisticated dining in Europe.  With locally caught fresh fish available daily, Ibiza is a seafood lovers´ paradise.  Local specialities include “Bullit de peix” (fish stew with rice) and “Dorada a la sal” (salt baked seabass). Not to be missed either are the carefully prepared local tapas and the huge selection of wines from the catalan region.  Special mention should also be made of the locally distilled liqueur “hierbas”.  Traditionally served after meals - only to be taken in small doses!

How to get there

Ibiza´s airport lies on the South East coast of the island and with direct flights daily from all UK airports during the summer months Ibiza has never been easier to get to.  There are also connecting scheduled flights from Barcelona, Madrid and Palma hourly. Ryanair also operates a direct service from the UK three times a week throughout the year.
